    MSI GS63VR Battery

    I just want to know if it is possible and economic if the battery can be replaced with a bigger capacity so
    that it can be used for light task for more than 4-6 hours.

    No, battery cannot be replaced. Even if it could, it would not do much. MSI's BIOS is optimized for maximum performance which, in turn, results in a drastic decrease in battery life. You'd need an entirely new BIOS coded for it with economy in mind.

    The new MSI GS63VR 7RG will have 3 cell 5700mAh battery the old had 4600mAh but 4-cell. It is already available in some countries. I believe you could reach 4-6 hours in light task with FHD model.

    On 4k old model you get (notebookcheck)
    Idle (without WLAN, min brightness) - 6h 26min
    WiFi Surfing v1.3 - 3h 52min
    Load (maximum brightness) - 1h 15min

    I saw that model too but it is too expensive and I don't want to go back to a TN panel even though its a decent panel. I am still undecided about this laptop. Thanks for your suggestion.

    IF MSI wanted to I suspect they could release an updated BIOS to handle a different battery being installed. It doesn't look like a big deal to change the battery it's on the side of the motherboard where the drives are you don't have to pull the whole motherboard out like you do for memory or the mvr drive update. I suppose if enough folks asked about it they might consider it, the battery is user changeable all they'd have to do is release a bios update.

    You can replace the battery only if it's identical to what MSI uses, but there's no upgrade available.

    I think MSI really dropped the ball on batteries. I really like user-removable batteries a la Dell where you can swap one in 10 seconds.

    I have the bigger Titan and even it only gets an 8-cell battery that doesn't last much longer than an hour, if that. It needs a 10 cell battery that can be removed.

    You can still replace it if you feel comfortable opening up the chassis to get inside.
