Hey guys, just got my MSI GS60 from Amazon and it looks like none of the original software came with it (bought like new), so I had to re download most of it. As of right now there's 3 things that are really concerning me 1. The audio is horrible, sounds like a $5 speaker you buy at Walmart. 2. When the laptop is closed, if I hold it from the bottom the laptop opens a bit, seems real flimsy to me. Can't even stay closed? 3. It's a huge fingerprint magnet... I don't know why, but it bothers me a lot more than I thought. Other than that, the laptop is good. Love the screen! Just wondering, what would be a sturdier laptop that isn't a fingerprint magnet? Not too sure how I feel about this laptop.

Just a quick note, none of my laptops remain completely closed if held from the bottom. I haven't done it with my GT80, but not even my lenovo, Asus etc. I mean, they don't open up the screen or anything, but they open up a bit. This is normal.

As for fingerprint magnet, you can invest in a laptop skin if you want :)

I see, must've got use to the build quality of my MacBook retina lol. By the way, what can I do about the speakers? They sound really weak. Don't think the subwoofers on either.

For the sound, I would consult with other GS60 owners, but I would also advise installing the sound software from the MSI page, and then try to configure bass/sound settings to your liking.

Yep, regarding audio, check and make sure the software is installed. Sound Blaster Cinema 2 I think it's called makes a big difference, but also make sure the drivers are installed as well. It's odd the software package wasn't installed, was this a used machine? Your best bet might be doing a System Restore using the MSI image to get you back to factory settings.

I tried installing sound blaster cinema 2 and it wouldn't let me mess around with the speakers. It just lets me raise and lower down the volume. I don't think it's picking up the speakers. By the way, yes it was a "like new" from Amazon.

When you open Sound Blaster Cinema 2 there's a red power toggle button on the top left. Click that and you should hear a difference in sound quality.

If that doesn't work for some reason, do a system restore. Being the laptop wasn't new, I'd do a system restore to get it back to MSI factory settings, and then start adjusting to your liking from there. I'm perfectly fine with the speakers, they are as good or better than previous laptops I've owned. For serious playing or listening though I use a set of Bose Bluetooth headphones.

    Good luck!

I use a soundblaster USB sound setup when I am all docked up myself, but as be77solo suggested the interface is a little odd, if you still are having trouble post up a screenshot.

Which software did you use to test the speakers with? How about gaming?
Have you used the built-in software to perform testing?

You want to install Creative Sound Blaster Software. But first you need to install the Realtek HD sound drivers before Creative Sound Blaster will work. All drivers and software are available at MSI's website.
