Hi there,
As many of you I have this prob of wifi lost.
Very difficult to find in the main post where the solutions are.
So, fil free to post what s working for you because sor far I still have the problem.![]()
-
Me too. No solution despite trying all options. I'm using the newest BT home hub.
-
I seem to have fixed mine. I looked on the router and it supported 2.4 & 5ghz, not the 5.2ghz specified in the wifi card's setting. I set it to prefer just "2.4ghz", transmitter power to "Highest" and Roaming aggressiveness to "Lowest" and now i'm getting speeds the same or better than my old laptop and a much stronger signal.
-
-
Yeah me too actually. Especially after playing a game. It's working much better just browsing.
It's a pain that it's an non standard size or i would get a different model. -

Have you already gone through basic troubleshooting - reinstall/update the driver, power cycle the router, check the DHCP settings, etc?
-
Seems to me the wifi card weak and do have wifi drop when the laptop is in full load as it's apen when the gpu running.
However thanks for your help . Any other idea? -
For me it was router related... I had occasional random drops, nothing serious, but was enough to motivate me to try a new router. Picked up a Netgear R7000, setup the 5.0ghz AC network, and haven't had a single disconnect or range issue in a month of daily use. The Intel AC card is very picky it seems, much more so than any other device I use on WIFI with routers.
Previously I was running a 2.4/5.0 N network on a Linksys EA4500.... it worked great with everything except for random dropouts with the Intel AC card in the GS60.
Not the ideal solution of course, but I can vouch that it worksLuckily, I was ready to upgrade for in-home streaming purposes so gave me an excuse for the wife...
-
I am using the 17.0.2.5 drivers from intel for the card on Windows 7 64bit and have had no issues after this even on G/N and AC.
Speeds are what they should be at and no more drops. I also have the
Preferred Band - No preference
Roaming aggressiveness - Medium
Transmit power - Highest
HT Mode - VHT Mode -
i'm having similar issues. I tried updating to the latest wifi drivers on the msi website and the intel website with no luck. tried all combinations of transmit power, roaming aggressiveness, preferred bands etc. Nothing seems to correct the problem.
Whats even worse is today i was working with colleagues in a room with a low wifi signal, and i wasn't even able to connect to it, while everyone else could (mac's, think pads, and others). This clearly is a major problem and from the looks of it isnt specific to the GS60... -
It's out of order that people should have to get a new router. The one we have is perfectly fine at home with all other laptops. It's embarrassing that the most expensive equipment in the house is the one struggling.

Curious, I've noticed on my AC7260 that Bluetooth stops working after resuming the notebook from Sleep every time. The entire Bluetooth option is gone, both in the system tray menu and in the control panel. A reboot brings it back until the next sleep.... slightly off topic, but related to the Intel card. Any one else have this issue?
I agree mardon, a new router is definitely not a solution to the AC7260's problems, but for what ever reason with the right router, it works great.mardon likes this. -

For some reason if I sit mine on a lapdesk (just a generic one with a solid surface, not a cooler pad) then I get terrible unusable wifi. When I moved it to my lap the wifi works. I was playing Diablo 3 you can tell when it drops out (effects won't show on the screen), If I move it around my lap then I can get it to come back.
Edit: Well I might need to do some more testing. I think I was downloading something in the background and it was causing me to think I was getting a bad connection. Right now my 2.4GHz connection seems to be very stable. -
So my I just got a new router and wireless problems already coming (after setting preferred band to 5.2ghz it helped with previous one). I think videos/webpages load fine but when I start any games, connection is horrible. Is it possible for games to have bad connection but everything else working? I have full bars and apparently at 144 mbps.

Hi.
I'm here because I have the same issue. After a moth of tests and reading different forums I have found that the issue is related with the use of the dedicated GPU. It seams a consumption problem because if you play a game with the Intel it will work perfectly. Or if you cap the Nvidia GPU it also will work (Using Afterburner and capped at 65ºC).
At this point I have no idea what to do to solve this issue. As I read in other forums, sending it to an RMA will be useless. Does anyone found a solution?
I have the GS60 2PE 044ES (870M and Intel 7260AC) -
Did you know that they released the 7265 as a hardware fix for the instabilities and wake problems of the 7260 ?
-
Wow! I had no idea!
Now the point if I send my lapotop to MSI they would change my 7260 to the newer 7265?
But I'm not sure if this issue is only related whit the wifi card and not a power consumtion issue or others. Does anyone solve this problem by replacing the 7260? -
Same problems here, do u think if we replace the card by a 7265, the issue will be gone ? it's really a disaster this little y problem ! I've never seen that since i'm using computers.

I have the same problem. WIFI drops out frequently, to the point I can't even load a web page. I haven't even tried anything that would require the vid card to kick in.
I purchased the computer last week and am ready to box it up and ship it back after many hours of frustration. Internet connectivity is as important as anything to me. So disappointing. What really pisses me off is that this is a known problem going back 6 months and they are still shipping these units.

If I knew there was a real fix for this I would consider keeping it.
I first found this sticky on the MSI forum: I found nothing that would work after reading through 15 pages.

I contacted MSI by phone and I was given two options. Reload the Intel 7260 driver (which I tried), or reload the Operating system.
Next I created a ticket and here is the dialogue.

MSI Tech. 11/12/2014 Dear customer, Try to uninstall the drivers from " programs and features".

End User 11/12/2014 WIFI connectivity. Most of the time I cannot even surf the web with this defective computer. Only after purchasing (less than one week ago) did I realize that this has been a know problem for months, yet MSI continues to ship these defective products. I'm pretty pissed off. I've seen a lot of tweaks to the driver in the advanced details, with claims that there have been improvements. I tried a few with no real results.
I don't know what to do guys. I not high tech, but enough to investigate and get some ideas here.
Is there any real hope? Thanks for reading. -

Someone that I assisted with a week ago had the issue resolved because he tried a newer router. -
I have two connections.
The Comcast supplied modem/router Arris model TG862G/CT (supplied with Comcast X1 platform installed 6 months ago)
I also have an older Belkin N Wireless Router Model F5D8236-4 v3 connected to the Arris. (Belkin is 5 years old)
I hardwired my NB to the Arris and was getting over 100 Mbps down/ 12 Mbps up
Switching to wireless the signal resulted in a similar signals for the Arris/Belkin , 20-25 Mbps down/ 12 Mbps up. All within a 15-25 foot range.
Still have problems surfing the internet, intermittently cannot even load/refresh pages for a few minutes when on wireless using updated Chrome/Firefox browsers.
I can't speak to how this NB will perform playing online games, but if I can't surf the net I don't see any hope for a satisfying game experience currently.
------------------------------
I maxed out spending on this computer purchase and was hoping for no additional costs. I expect a new router is in order, and am willing to invest towards solving this problem.
FYI: I did update with the new BIOS release for this notebook - released 11/3 v. E16H2IMS.10E
Currently I am using mardons tweak guide for the AC-7260. http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/761608-msi-gs60-ghost-tweak-information.html#post9776930
Regarding the Embedded Controller (EC). I haven't up updated this, and don't know if this important to the issue.
I appreciate advice and help. Thanks very much.
I wan't my RMA to go away. -

So try and see if you can do the same.
I ping both of charter gateway & my router at the same time using 2 ping windows.
PING 192.168.1.1 - t [Enter]
PING 123.123.123.1 -t [Enter]
Then see which PING shows time outs.
