Bought MSI GS60 6QE last September/October 2016 (still on guarantee), but I started to have a problem with CPU fan on/off loop without any reason. It is further explained in these posts: #5008, #5009, #5010, #5011, #5013, #5014.
I've tried different solutions and it seems more stable now. Anyway, I want to revert to factory settings as well to see if it makes any difference, but F3 recovery doesn't work anymore (laptop came with W10 preinstalled OS). I made an ISO copy through MSI Recovery Tool, but it produced 5 ISO files (recovery_dvd.iso). As it doesn't have a DVD disc player, does anyone know how to restore to MSI W10 preinstalled OS from these ISOs?
Better still, could anyone share their MSI W7 preinstalled OS, as it's the OS that I will need to install? I could share my W10 ISOs if someone is interested as well in having them.

Thank you very much in advance!
    Cheers

P.S: In addition, in case someone wants to revert to previous BIOS or EC versions, you can use these links (still within MSI database):

Check the vent and clean it up if it's dirty. What type of weather/humidity does your environment has?

    Thanks for the reply, Kevin!

I don't have the technical knowledge, neither the will to open the laptop while still on guarantee. They seem quite clean from outside... I really take care of the laptop, I'm very cautious with it (mostly using Green Shift mode even when playing to control the temperatures, fps limit to 30 as I don't need anymore; being years using crappy laptops and Pentium IV... you can guess how the change feels :D)

It's actually quite dry, but as I sometimes work abroad, it was for a few months in a humid weather. Anyway, the laptop is mostly used at home, I have never used it outdoors.

You can use air blower to clean because you can't really see much from the outside, however the level of cleaning will be limited.
Also, you can open up the back compartment to access the fan module and clean it more thoroughly without voiding your warranty, but it is entirely up to you.

I'm almost sure that it's a MSI software/EC Firmware bug in their design... I have browsed the web and found many cases of different MSI laptops having the same issues for years: CPU fan getting off/on in maximum speed/off loop. People had to find alternative solutions such as tweaking the EC Firmware tables through MSI Silent Option, Dragon Center or Svet's modified BIOS. What I'm trying to verify if this problem could be solved returning to pure factory settings.

After monitoring it for days, it's happening always at a specific point: getting stock between cold temps/RPM settings right after switching the laptop on (totally cold). It's not happening when playing a game or demanding high CPU intensive activies anymore, apparently. Ventilation is working well and keeping the same temperatures as before in Green Shift mode. If there were too much dust inside, it would be struggling especially when requiring the laptop to use all its ventilation capabilities, which in this case it's actually the opposite.

Thank you for your posts, anyway!

The same design cannot be perfect for everyone, even Svet's custom EC varies from one person to another. With certain amount of dust clogging the air vent the heat can build up quicker therefore causing the fan speed to rev up more often than usual, this is the reason why the vent needs to be cleaned up from time to time to ensure the best performance/ideal usage environment.

I would like to insist that this is a flaw in plenty of different MSI laptops since 2013, at least from what I have found in some forums, and not a picky requirement from an user. There is a big difference between demanding that the fans work correctly as designed without flaws, than to require a more silent laptop, to what I'm not complaining at all. This is clearly not a case of dust, but a faulty MSI design which still happens in 2017. Seriously, either by lack of will or incompetence, MSI is not solving this issue for some MSI users, which have to solve it by themselves and through community assistance in order to avoid the uncertainty of sending their laptops in RMA for a software problem (in quite some cases, they actually arrive in worse state than they were before; internet is full of cases like that).

Honestly, after paying 1400€ for a laptop, I expect at least that they have fixed the same issues in the same models after years of development (GS60 is far from a new model), but it isn't the case. It's kind of lottery to get a fully working laptop, one with some issues or a defective one. In fact, MSI Country Support told me that I couldn't revert my EC Firmware to a previous version, when asking them to provide me my factory EC version... which ended up in a big lie, as I managed to reduce the symptoms by reverting it thanks to other users, who had included one MSI database link. Well, that's not professional but a very lazy attitude, specially towards a consumer who is willing to fix the problem by himself.

At the end, these problematic experiences ease you so much the next buy: pay a bit more for a company with more reliability. It's a shame, I'm overall very happy with the laptop, but which kind of trust can I have towards MSI Support Centre if they start lying at the drop of a hat?

I understand that you're having issues with the fan design but based on our experience with our own customers we have not received any feedback from any of them so far.
Have you tried asking Svet to give you a customized EC firmware to see if he can tune the fan settings to your liking?

Thanks again for the feedback! I'm not saying that this CPU fan off/on loop problem happens to everyone, but to quite a few since some years.

I have learned how to surpass the loop situation and get a stable laptop again, but the procedure has to be done every time that I switch on the laptop. Well, it could be worse, but it shouldn't be happening after all these years; that's my point.

For the moment, I'm looking for a factory copy of MSI GS60 6QE Windows 7 preinstalled OS, in order to test if the loop stops and CPU fan behaviour reverts to normal functioning (as when I bought the laptop). Another user shared his solution to the same problem using Dragon Center to tweak the fans/temperatures. So, in principle, I won't need Svet's assistance for now.

Gotcha, the factory version of recovery set is available from MSI directly if you didn't create them from the system. :)

Great! I'll ask MSI to check if they're willing to send it to me. Cheers!
