    Hi all,

I've just purchased a GS40 and it's a very nice machine. However, I've already sent it back due to a keyboard issue where the tab key stuck (this was noted in a review posted by Xentar712 - http://www.ultrabookreview.com/9542-msi-gs40-phantom-review/).

This was fine, as I got a replacement eventually. But, here's where the oddness begins: the replacement's keyboard has an issue where the 1,2,3,4 and right shift key just stop working every so often. I updated the firmware to the latest (multi key issue) and I also replaced the Elan touchpad driver, etc.

The strange part is that every so often the keys start working again - possibly related to plugging the laptop power in, but I'm still to verify this.

Anyone have any ideas? it's quite worrying/annoying that the keys can stop working intermittently and it is specifically those same keys. I'm deciding on whether to try another replacement or just return it and get the money back.

    Thanks in advance!

I have had no issues with the keyboard at all, only some wifi problems.

Try the keyboard without the SSE software, see if this makes any difference.

    Hi Kevin,

First reboot after uninstall and the keys are working again, so I'll try after putting it to sleep for a bit and see if it stays ok.

Btw, what is SSE and if I don't play games, would I need it?

    thanks!

Also (I'm very curious about this), why would SSE affect what the keys do during normal use in windows 10?!?

Sorry, last post. Same keys just went dead again. All I did was browse a website. ;)

SSE = SteelSeries Engine, it's the keyboard software.
