am I missing something here or is this just a GE60 with a terrible GPU and same bad quality plastic design...?

This is more of a media machine for those who want a customised machine who are less interested in gaming.
-
Understandable, but to my question..is it actually the same laptop minus the GPU? Why didn't they just keep the GE60 version and add another SKU with the GT740M (like they did with the GE60-0NC with 650M and GE60-0ND with 660M)
-
This is not even multimedia machine ... Its battery is same as acutall GE60/70 -_- 3hours max battery life ... thats really terrible, who the hell they think will buy this laptop?

The GP70 is in the Gaming Notebook section but it's almost identical to the CX70 specs.
The difference may only be the hybrid drive in the GP model. -
It's not a bad laptop. I just bought one, I'm not really a PC gamer so the weaker gpu isn't an issue for me (an ATI would actually fit my use better if anyone wants to trade). Its hard to beat the specs of this machine for the price. of course I'd rather have a GE60 but the differences didn't justify the extra $250 for my needs. 90% of my use is plugged in so battery life wasn't a large issue for me. The big things that got me were an i7 4700mq, 2 mSata slots, 7200rpm HDD, full high def screen, under $1000. I will say physically it is a little cheap and overly plastic feeling. I plan to add 16gb of 1600mhz CL9 ddr3l memory and 2x 256gb mSata ssds. I need the 16gb because I run a lot of VMs simultaneously. I have to say for the price this thing makes a great pentesting rig. The only negatives for me are no back-lit keyboard (I would have really loved the red or blue keys) and the nvidia card but that would be a plus for most other people.

It's a great around the house machine.

I think it is wonderful for the price.

Just bought one. After upgrading to windows 8.1, the g-panel disappeared. Now its only user define key and is asking which program to open. Can anyone help. - gp60 user
