I noticed that the MSI GF63 has been for sale for a while in the USA and UK on Newegg:

But I can't seem to find much in the way of user reviews. I have to say it looks like a nice option for a light and powerful laptop. I would upgrade the memory and hard drive. What are peoples views on it and is it easy to upgrade the memory?

For my budget I can't decide between the MSI or a n XPS 15 9560 from Ebay / dell outlet. I do like the specs of the MSI, but it has a tiny battery (will be making documentaries on the road) and the screen looks to be the real weak point. But it looks a powerful laptop for this form factor

What do people think? Have you read any reviews on the MSI?

I've looked at this and really want to like it. But, just as you haven't found reviews, I've only found hands on that have been nothing but a sales pitch. What concerns me is an article I read: https://www.techradar.com/reviews/msi-gf63

"Strangely, MSI tells us that users won’t be able to upgrade the MSI GF63, which makes it an oddity in the company’s otherwise upgrade-friendly lineup."

That worries me and turned me off from it. The screen doesn't look the best either. It says IPS, but I suspect a lower level LG panel like the the LGD0590, which isn't very color accurate or bright.

Being almost two months after they announced it and no reviews yet is odd.

I think that may be a print mistake, as if you look at the specs it says:

    https://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Pr...4154939&cm_re=msi_gf63-_-34-154-939-_-Product

    Memory
    Memory Slot (Total)
    2
    Max Memory Supported
    32 GB

If it has 2 slots and max supported memory 32gb it must be upgradable

I hope it's inaccurate. Other than the odd way MSI does their mobo, they are usually really good about upgrades on their laptops. And, if it's upgradeable, it gives a great option for those who don't need the power of the GS65 for a fraction of the price.

The 9462 nic is a bit um, not great (feel the power of 433mbit/s!!). That would be the first thing I'd swap, although it is a 1x1 card so in the case may only have 1 antenna. cheap enough to buy a second I guess but pain in the neck to install and route. Better with a 82/9260.....or one of the Killer 1500 series.
