MSI GE73 Raider vs. 2 M.2 SSDs

Dear all. There's an issue that I've been battling over the last 3 days now. The deal is that I bought a Crucial P5 M.2 SSD drive for my laptop MSI GE73 Raider RGB 8RF (listed as compatible in the link: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/msi-(micro-star)/ge73-raider-rgb-8rf#ssd). When I insert the new drive in the second (and only accessible) M.2 PCIe slot, the motherboard disables the first Kingston M.2 SATA SSD in the first combined PCIe/SATA slot that it had ever since I bought the laptop and where my OS is, it's not detected in the BIOS or Windows, and only the new SSD is visible to the system. I tried reattaching the drives, inserting them in a different order, updated BIOS, set the BIOS settings to default, formatted my old drive and reinstalled W10 on it, installed W10 on the new drive, trying to detect the old SATA drive from the Windows Disk Management there, and still no luck. At the same time, if I unplug the new drive from the second slot, the system starts recognizing my old SSD again, and I can boot as usual. Shortly put, we have the following scheme:
The laptop has three storage devices:
1. 1Tb HDD (intended as a storage device).
2. M.2 SATA Kingston 128 Gb (intended for OS only).
3. M.2 PCIe P5 Crucial 1Tb (intended as an additional high-speed storage device).
But I cannot use both these SSDs at the same time, because once I install the new drive, the old one gets disabled by the motherboard. I can access the advanced BIOS settings, any chance I have to configure something there?

In the Bios, you have more settings for sata mode. Try setting it to AHCI.

 

AHCI mode is the default setting there, the other one is Intel RST Premium, no use.

 

Problem is the nvme slot might disable the sata port your combo slot uses and this results in the kingston ssd being not usable. Try looking in aida64 which system slots are in use with the kingston ssd and then look which are used with the crucial ssd.
Later edit: also try contacting MSI for more info regarding your problem.

 

Contacted the MSI support, they said that inserting multiple drives "looks like causing a short, shouldn't damage the board or components but just wont detect certain components if its causing that". They also advised me to try replacing the old Kingston with another drive and see if both NVMe drives get detected, and if the issue persists, I'll have to send it to repair service so they could test if the motherboard causes a short somewhere... But that would be really weird, I haven't ever encountered power shortage or power surge, and gave proper maintenance to the laptop... Anyways, waiting for the new drive to be delivered by the end of the week.
