    Hi hopefully someone can help,

    I'm looking at buying the above 17 inch laptop, it will be used for gaming (Crysis, FarCry, Battlefield One, CoD WWII etc) but will also be used by my kids for homework and general purpose.

    The laptop isn't in store anywhere near me so I'm relying on reviews (which are few and far between for the 2017 model with the I7 7700HQ, 16gb Ram, GTX1070 and 512SSD).

    I'm hoping someone has experiences of this laptop and can answer the following;

    Is the SSD a SATA or NVME drive as I understand the latter is significantly faster)?

    Are there any issues with the Killer 1435 Wifi Card as there seems to be some comments concerning it on YouTube comments for similar laptops?

    How is the build quality, is it family friendly?

    I'd appreciate any views on this as the only similar spec laptop is the HP Omen 17 but that looks quite plastic and the screen seems a little washed out.

    Thanks in advance

    I'd suggest skipping it. The GE series aren't that great and the 1070 model does run quite hot.

    Thanks for the response is there an alternative laptop that would recommend ideally with a 1070 GPU and at least 256gb NMVE SSD?

    Sorry, ideally below £1,800. The only other option that I can find is the new HP Omen range but that's with a 1060GPU and retails for £1,599

    A 1070 at that price will almost always carry compromises. Not to mention that, unless you game at higher resolutions than 1080p, a 1070 will go mostly under-utilized. Maybe look at a high-end 1060 machine? Something like the Alienware 15 R4?

    Thanks, I've taken a look at the Alienware and at those costs it's a compromise that I don't really want to make. Looks like I may have to wait for an Asia ROG sale or reconsider the new HP Omen series

    Hi don_svetlio Is the MSI GT72VR 6RE(Dominator Pro) any good? It has a I7 6800HQ processor but gains a blu-ray drive.

    It has better cooling but build quality is nowhere near that on Alienware or other high end machines such as the G701VI

    Thanks, just checked that out and its way out of my budget. Best I can find in budget is the ASUS G752VS-GC054T. It has the I7 6850HQ card and an SSD but not sure what type.
