i have my GE70 2PC Apache now for roughly a week and I really like it. I have the Version with 8 GB Ram and 1 TB HDD. With that tool I found in the MSI forum, it showed the following info about the RAM.

Does that mean its one 8 GB brick or is it 2x 4 GB bricks ? I would like to increase the Memory to 16 GB and I wonder which one I can use.

    Would that be compatible ?

    http://www.amazon.de/Kingston-DDR3-1600MHz-Non-ECC-SODIMM/dp/B0089JIDUI

And, if the Ram already in it is a 8 GB brick, would the RAM i plan to buy be compatible with that one so I would only need 1 more 8 GB to buy, or would I need complete new RAM bricks ?

Any help or info is appreciated.
    Thanks so much.

They typically come installed with 1x 8GB so you can add a second 8GB stick to max out the system.

Ideally, you should get exactly the same RAM, but other maker with same specs and timings should also work.
My ge60 2pc uses one, low voltage (1.35v) 8GB stick and the one you want to buy I think is standard 1.5v, it should still work, but it will use more power and run hotter, since at that point both sticks will be run at 1.5v.
To make sure, why not open the laptop and see for yourself, if you have one stick and one empty slot, you'll have to do it anyhow, unless somebody else will do it for you?
Are you using CPU-z ? that will tell you how many slots you have and what is empty, also what voltage and timings your RAM has and you should match those numbers. On rare occasions some memory may not work, even if it should, so just in case buy something you can return.
