    Hey guys -

I've recently purchased a GE63 Raider RGB 8RF. Love the hardware, just slapped 2x 1tb m.2's in it, a Samsung 950 Pro 512 ssd, and repasted the cpu and gpu with IC Diamond. All good to go, thermals are staying under 75C after long gaming sessions and way cooler than before the repaste.

I'm getting very stable and great fps on ultra settings in all games and heat is no issue....

The trouble comes into play with terrible and nearly unplayable frametime spikes. Seems like they get worse as the game goes on and some games are worse than others. I will be around 8-10ms on the internal monitor and jump to 40 for a split second and back down. So unbearably frustrating and I'm about to return this thing while still in the 15 day window... I've uninstalled MSI afterburner, dragon center, the color app, all to no avail. I've updated windows 10 to 1803 and installed all driver updates etc through geforce experience and for this particular model from MSI's website.

Reading around online I can't seem to find any clear answer of what the problem could be. DPC latency issues? Nvidia Optimus (most likely)? I did not DDU when I updated video drivers, and windows 10 auto installed about 10 updates in addition to the 1803 update.

Please guys I'm desperate to figure out what this annoying issue is. This beast is ready to roll but without solving this problem I can't keep it and will be forced to figure out a plan B and try another brand....

    Thanks for any help!

No suggestions out there? Maybe I'm the only one who has run into this with this machine :(

The first time I tried DDU before I reset the machine for the 10th time Nvidia control panel just disappeared so the next go-around I didn't DDU.

Any idea why that may have happened?

Not sure what exactly you are saying, but... Use DDU. Clean install latest drivers. In nvidia control panel check your GTX as a preferred video adapter. Make sure you are plugged in.

Thanks. I'll try it again. What I mean is - after I did the DDU in safe mode, and reinstalled the fresh downloaded drivers, NV control panel did not show up when I right clicked on the desktop. Only Intel's video management. Maybe I didn't dig deep enough and it was still installed but for some reason just didn't show the icon when right clicking on the desktop.

GTX is supposed to be selected as the preferred video? Curious - does that overwrite the Optimus benefits of reduced battery consumption?

Part of the draw to this laptop for me is I can still game, but also use it for work since its thin and light. While most people try and avoid Optimus like the plague, I for one need it for the much better battery life as my daily work driver.

I really appreciate your advice man. Thanks!

Just a quick update for anyone seeking the most likely fix for these issues. In Nvidia Control Panel I noticed if I set the preferred graphics driver to the 1070 the problems went away - but in further testing the battery life was significantly lessened in the process using the dGPU all of the time instead of the iGPU.... I fixed this by setting the global settings to always use the iGPU and by individually setting each one of my games up with its own custom profile where you can force the dGPU to be used. No problems at all since - games running flawlessly and my laptop battery life is back to normal!

Hope this helps someone out there. Peace!
