MSI outs its latest GE620DX gaming laptop, orcs prepare for virtual slaughter -- Engadget
First thought: Doesn't look bad.
Second thought: The screen sucks.
I hope re-sellers are able to get a hold of a barebones model of this. If the 555m is the same one 144 shader 128 bit GDDR5 version as in the GX680 then this could have a lot of potential as a budget gaming notebook, with some upgrades of course.

It's got 2gb ram, so I'm inclined to think that it's the same as in the sager models (128 bit, 16 rops(?) gddr3), I think that the gddr5-version only has 1gb of vram?
About the screen, here in Sweden the models (i5 and an i7 quad) are coming equipped with a FHD-screen.
The laptop though seems to pack some serious punch into a good looking and relatively light-weight design, while still being relatively cheap. I'm looking forward to it!
A bonus compared to the NP5165 (which it seems pretty identical to specwise) is that is about .2-3kg lighter!
Though, this could all be spoiled by shi*ty build quality or something like that. :/
edit: Oh right, the price. The quad version is going for 9k SEK which is roughly 1400$, but it's more likely to cost around 1000-1100 in the US.
Pretty sick (and welcomed) that a tiny little country like Sweden gets a new model before the big & mighty US. -

It's got a 2ghz CPU, did not say anything about 2GB of graphics ram.
-
Nothing about an i5-version either, man this is crazy!
And I guess I must have dreamt that part about the weight too.

Some info:
I think this will be the "fake" GT555M with 96 core. -
Doesn't the sager-version have 144 cores?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes the sager is 144 cores but only has 128bit DDR3.
Also the review I saw clearly showed an MXM-B card.
They are not going to put a 96core part onto an MXM-B card.
They could have used less but higher density chips. -

Oh wait, I was getting confused, they are releasing a 144 core 128bit GDDR5 machine but it's a different model based of the same shell as the 683R.
Yes this one is probably using DDR3 but it means MSI are being very naughty.
They are the only ones using different versions of the 555m and calling them the same thing, bad MSI. -
I hear that from my friend (msi service assistant) this is the lower end, but true 555m with all the 144cores but only 128bit and ddr3 memory.
In europe we will have the 1366x768 screen and some German store will have the FHD option.
These informations are unconfirmed. -

I mean, don't blame them, because they are the only brand ever to do that.
It could very well be the same version and is definitely MXM A one way or another like all the ge series. -
any more info about this computer?

We have yet to hear about the gaming performance of this particular 555m. -
The GE620DX will share the same GE620 chasis according to a reseller. So we can probably take GE620's build quality review as GE620DX.
