    Hi guys !!! :hi2:
    I have a older GE620 with gt 540m...
I wanted to update my nvidia drivers, and one of my friends told me that I should go to device manager and uninstall it from there first...
Well I did... and now its gone, and the laptop has been acting strange!!!
When I turn it on from the power button it shuts off by itself, it would do that 2 , 3 times , and then it would boot normally...
I've been told to flash the bios with the boot usb... I did it... same issues....
Sometimes I would see the gt 540m in the device manager but it would say that it doesn't have enough of resources to run it... ??
I have no idea what to do, I even used the recovery with a format and fresh new windows.... Load bios defaults... I wonder if the gpu is dead or there's a way to fix it ??

    Hello!

Which version of Windows are you using? And is it 32-bit or 64-bit? You may need to side load the latest [stable] driver via a USB flash drive or CD. If you can get into Windows, try instaling the driver from said recommendations (external source). If the display adapter's software doesn't auto run (or run at all), you can attempt to install just the driver without the utility.

For future reference, DON'T DELETE THE DRIVER unless you are experiencing instability.

I'm not familiar enough with command line instruction. I don't think you would need to have the USB drive bootable though for a driver install. Interesting predicament, though. Have you tried the driver release just prior to the one you've attempted to install? Your first screen shot makes me wonder if there is a resource conflict, due to the device status description. It could be that another device is accessing the same IRQ or memory address.

Try restarting with a clean reboot (MSconfig: use "safe mode with networking", go to Services, check "hide all Microsoft services", then disable all services in the list, and disable all start up items; reboot, try driver install).

You can reverse that by going back to MSconfig and selecting Normal startup (or selective startup, if you modified it previously).

Download the drivers and choose advance setup(or something in that matter) and choose clean install, you may have to delete the nvidia folders in program directory prior to installing the drivers to make it work properly again.

    Good luck!

Alternatively, you can use Revo Uninstaller for the driver + utility, and then reinstall the driver and application. If you use Revo, it's best to use the Advanced removal method.

    Hi guys !!! :hi2:
Thanks for the help ... still no fix though
The weird thing is, when I hit the power button on my laptop before it shows the first screen, it turns off, and then it starts by itself .... idk where the deal is on that one...
So every time it turns itself off the VGA is gone from the device manager... Once in a while when the laptop has been off all day... i turn it on and it doesn't shut off... when windows loads the VGA is in the device manager...
Then I'm like "OMG YAY!!!" so I install the driver.... and guess what?? when the laptop restarts instead of starting up normally it shuts off again and powers on by itself... then when windows loads.. the vgs is not in the device manager...
SOOO weird... idk whats going on, cloud the vga be dead???

Well, I hate to suggest a format + reload - or a recovery - but have you already done that? I'm wondering if the GPU needs reseated; a poor connection might result in something like this. :(
