I am not an extreme gamer, my laptop is mostly for work and i like to do casual gaming at night.

my previous laptops have all been sony vaio business models and they have performed flawlessly, the drawback has always been no discrete graphics card so ive always been limited in the games i could play.

So i have been looking for a new laptop with the following requirements:

    2nd gen intel (i5 or i7)
    full hd 15" screen
    discrete graphics card.

Based on this i have to narrowed it down to a few models, all with some drawbacks:

Sony CB (pricey for what it has, ati 6630 card, crappy finish compared to its superior 13" sibling the new SB, and i have seen benchmarks that claim the 6630 will not do so well in 1920X1080 setting, only offer I5 2nd gen)

dell xps 15 ( never thought id ever look at a dell, dated chunky styling, but it does have the i7 and 540m card, good reviews on the net)

msi GE 620 (540m card, i7, build quality concerns based on reviews, best price around at ~$1080)

I knew nothing about msi computers until a few days ago but found it in a review while looking at benchmarks for mobile vid cards. My concern is that this thing will last a full 3 years with no problems. My laptops spend about 65 hours a week on, my work requires fast processor and high ram constantly doing many calculations and many programs running at a time (stock market). Then it needs to be able to handle a few hours of gaming at night time, probably the only time the gfx card will be in use.

I dont need a top of the line card, coming from laptops with inability to play most games im happy to find one that can run most on med-high settings.

Can anyone tell me anything about the build quality of these computers? what are the major concerns?

note: before anyone suggest something like a sager or msi 683r as cool as those gaming specific laptops are i need something i can use in a business setting and those comps look too boy gamer for that.

thanks for any replies in advance

that ge600 does not offer the FHD screen, and the problem with the barebones is it is the 683r which has the gaming laptop case design, i need a business style laptop.

im willing to sacrifice ultra gaming graphics to have a slimmer design and less weight. my main questions are the quality of msi laptops in general.

Oh, I see. You should get a clevo then.

The p151hm is my favorite, with rubberized finish and matte screen.

I have the 620-001us version not the 021us but it has 6 gb of ram, a 2630qm , gt540m and a 500gb (7200). the build quality is really not the best but i can live with it, i paid it 850 at ncix.com with weekly special , its normal at 1100. So for the price i dont think i could have had better deal. On newegg, the 021 model has 8 gb and 640gb but its priced 1299 for those 2 little upgrade, amazon 1099. I think it's a decent laptop but IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY BLUETOOTH, maybe the 021 has it i dunno. I addition i had trouble with trackpad driver but i found a better version of driver and it's awesome. i general it worth really my 897 shipped. I sold my old dell 1545 dualcore (2 year) 400$ so i did massive upgrade for 500... AND 1080p make it small but there is so much space!!! i love it. colors a bit blue in comparison to my syncmaster but quality of the screen is nice.

The build quality of the Clevo will be much better, and noticeably so.
