MSI GE60 skin colors?

I like the GE60 even with the slightly gimped 660m GPU. My main issue is its Alienware-ish design and coloring.

Is there anyway to get a plain black cover with the MSI logo on it? Are their any backlights on the cover?

 

I don't think you can get rid of the design on the MSI cover but you can get it customized with backlights from an appropriate reseller.

On a separate note, I wasn't aware the 660M in the GE60 was gimped. I am currently debating between this laptop and the Lenovo Y580, and if the GPU is gimped in the MSI, well, that may lead me to favor the Y580.

 

Gimped as in compared to 670, 680, or 7970.

Just not a high end GPU. But it's much better a Lenovo.

 

Oh, I see what you mean. Lenovo gimping a bunch of GPUs in the past (notably on the Y480) has me scared about this kinda stuff. But thanks for clearing that up! They both use the same 660M, btw, just not sure if the one on the Lenovo is gimped or not.

 

Are there any other laptop models from msi that can fit the same as the ge60 that isn't red and rainbow?

Will the GE620 fit if I buy the back piece?

As you can see, it costs an additional $55, but it shouldn't be too big of a cost if you're considering removing the back piece on another laptop to get rid of the design.

 

I saw that. I wonder if I can just order the backsplash from them or the whole computer.

I like gaming capabilities but hate the lights and flash.
