I am looking to get a computer for college and since the new Alienware line up is extremely expensive I have looked towards MSI.
I think the 15.6 inch screen will be better for transport over the 17 inch.
I'm looking at the 2013 version of MSI GE60 2OE-003US
MSI GE60 2OE-003US - XOTIC PC - MSI Gaming Laptop
What are your opinions on it, as I cannot find any reviews to influence my decision?
Also what upgrades would you all recommend?

Gaming Laptops - GenTech PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks - Customize System
Why is XOTIC MIA on the MSI forums -
Back to the upgrade pricing it is always adviceable to do it yourself via third party seller, though you say a lot of time waiting and eliminate the risk if you order through the reseller, take the weighing yourself -

Find the last time an XOTIC rep posted in any of these MSI forums.
The sales reps post just about daily in the Clevo/Sager forums.
Busy or ....
Which reseller posts in the MSI forums just about on a daily basis?
BTW,I don't work for any reseller nor have I ever bought a notebook from either mentioned in this thread. -

Hey Shath,
The new MSI units are pretty nice. They don't have the DynAudio speakers like their GT counterparts have, but the speakers still have decent audio strength and quality, and the unit is noticeably lighter when comparing apples to apples specs against Clevo and Asus systems. If you're going to be on the move, this is one of the more "mobile" gaming laptops available in the 15" class.
Build quality and performance are on par with what you would expect from MSI (i.e. both are good), and Haswell with the 765M + Optimus should help some with regards to battery life, as opposed to last generation hardware. -
Hi ProStar, mind doing a full video review of this laptop? The one on your youtube channel doesn't explain that much about this laptop
-
Well if the new GE60 is better than the old one.. than its a great gaming laptop for the price

They put those up just to kinda showboat the new systems.

Also looking for a laptop for college
I've been looking at that GE60 along with maybe the GT60 2OC-022US or even the 2013 Alienware m14x (if it somehow goes on sale)
I was originally leaning towards the GT because of last gen but the new gen really makes a strong case for the GE. I've been trying to figure out battery life estimates for them for surfing. Also the GT has a 9 cell battery vs the GE's 6 cell so I'm wondering about any impact that might have.
Also for use as a primary laptop for school I would like some thoughts on the portability/weight arguments given the inherent expansion available on the GT.
Personally I'm planning an eventual upgrade to 16GB of RAM
maybe swap the HDD for the ODD and through in an SSD
that's where the GT's second HDD bay shines; kinda disappointed it doesn't even offer a separate mSATA slot
By the way ProStar your website gives 2 mSATA options that don't work even with the cheapest HDD selected (XoticPC [for example] allows you to select them making it clear this overrides the HDD option)
Frankly I don't need a gaming rig but it's hard to find anything quad core i7 with 1080p that isn't a gaming rig or real close to one without going over $1500
MSI GE60 2OE-003US Worth it?
