I am thinking of buying the MSI GE60 2OE-003 and a few questions I have about it

    - Do you enjoy your laptop
    - Have you had any problems with your laptop?
    - How bright is the Blue LED backlit keyboard?
    - Where did you buy your laptop
    - What type of service plan did you get

    More questions may follow...

    Thanks

    I had GE70 for a week but

    - I really enjoyed it, SSD was really fast, Win8 startup in less than 8seconds, display was amazing at daylight, the only thing I don't like on that laptop is of course battery life -.-
    - It was missing audio driver and i just downloaded one from MSI site, no more problems, after 3hours of full gaming, it was getting really hot for my fingers. But 3 hours without pause, so nothing special.
    - Hmm, how to explain this :D It was OK? :D Not so bright for your eyes while using at night.
    - Got it from friend for a week to test it out. I am not from USA so I can't help you with that.

Thanks for the quick reply, I want to buy a laptop soon but the only thing is trying to find a place to get the laptop serviced if anything happens to it.

I have the GE60 barebone, got it with no hdd, ram or windows install, so obviously different config, but I can answer those. Live in USA.
-Very much. I feel confident that I got the best deal for my needs for what I paid.
-None. I had mine repasted by the reseller (it was free), but otherwise untouched from MSI. So I did everything myself and have had no issues since day one.
-The LED keyboard is about right in intensity. Not too bright, not too dim. Best of all, it's even. Many others are uneven across the keys.
-HIDevolution in California. Took less than a week and arrived in perfect order.
-Standard one year. Though all US resellers offer pretty reasonable 2 and 3 year options. Do you live in USA?

Yes, I live in the US. I want to make sure that when I need service that I don't ship it away and not get it fixed within a timely manner. I have had bad experiences with new laptops needing service and do not want to do that again.

Well, if you buy from a reseller, you would ship back to them. A good rule of thumb is that all of the ones who post on this forum are good people. They take their jobs seriously and love to help. That's why they give free advice here in their off time. So I would say if you go with a major reseller, you should be able to count on them to get right on it. That means your turnaround would just be their bench time plus shipping both ways. My general experience is about 2 weeks assuming you get it rushed both ways.

If you buy from Newegg, Best Buy or another retailer, you send it straight to the nearest MSI certified warranty center. This is most likely a reseller anyway, as manufacturers don't generally have their own repair shops in every state. It will just be an MSI certified tech, so you would likely be looking at the same turnaround roughly. Worst case scenario, it goes to wherever MSI's US distributor is and could take 4-6 weeks like Sony or Dell.

Regardless, I don't think you need to worry about whether or not you will get good service, as long as your are under warranty. MSI has been around a while and doesn't seem to be about to go belly-up, so it's highly unlikely they would not honor the warranty. Same with most resellers. A lot of these guys have been around for 10-15 years or more, so they have long-standing reputations.
