I've only owned MSI desktop parts, like video cards and mobos, and they're all really good. My classmate had an MSI Wind netbook, and it was pretty nice (quality and look). The GX though, not sure yet

i have a gx620 the look is great but its fingerprint galore still not bad the quality is great imo. the service is awesome even though i mostly talk to ben from frostycomputers for any msi problems and he gets stuff done quick 1 week total for my motherboard to be replaced. pretty quick i have had a dell where it takes two weeks then wait another week to get it.

I think the OP asked for service quality, not build quality. More specifically, it's MSI service quality, not retailer quality.

My experience was not the best (service centre: Son - The Netherlands), but it could be different as they have different service centres.
A few weeks after buying my EX300 one of the USB ports didn't work any more. Took them 3 weeks to get my notebook back to me. Worst thing was that the notebook housing was not properly been fixed, gaps here and there and the main backplate was not correct installed.
The second time it came back they destroyed the back clips holding the lower and upper body together at the back. To bad I can't afford to ship the notebook again as I need it for my study. Also I don't have any faith in the fact that they fix everything this time.

I think MSI should have good service quality, because they're local also. They're in City of Industry, and they have a non 800 number, so you know its local and not outsourced service like HP or Kensington.

I have called them before and they are local (usa) as you said. Their response and support was excellent.
