after doing a Bios update i did not realized i needed a specific G-Sync compliant BIOS and so now G-sync is gone and my screen now reads as a 60hz screen instead of a 75hz screen

currently i have the most up to date version of the BIOS released by MSI and it is the WRONG one... for some reason MSI has non G-sync BIOS's on the support page for a specifically G-sync laptop....

so i need to find the earlier bios version to revert back...

which of course is not available through MSI

would love post in the MSI thread but there is no way for me to do this....

thank you any help would be great!

    Last try...

You can not even access G-SYNC control if your BIOS doesn't let your system know it has G-SYNC, not in the control panel, Not anywhere

I ALREADY am using current upto date BIOS

Not sure how to post system info on this forum... .

But its futile at this point since no one here seems to know so i will move on....

Msi have posted the non g-sync version of the BIOS

I am not the first person to experience this issue, its also not only msi that makes this mistake

Are you using the original GPU in your system?

Did it originally have G-Sync enabled

If not which did you replace it with.

What Nvidia driver version you are using?

Your asking for help however the information your supplying is limited.

    6QE means your on a HM170 chipset with a GTX980m.

Right, so you changed GPU, fair enough.

Is the new GTX 980M 8GB an MSI MXM Card or another brand all together?

Reason i ask is because like the people that upgraded from the 900 series GPU's to the 1000 Series GPU's the Device ID in the G-Sync Cookie doesn't match hence why G-Sync doesn't show.

To top that off MSI had two versions of the GTX 980M 4GB/8GB GPU's one with G-Sync and one without G-Sync.

So it would seem if you have a true MSI MXM GTX 980M 8GB GPU you purchased a Non G-Sync variant.

Although both GPU's would have G-Sync for external G-Sync monitors one variant doesn't have G-Sync for internal EDP screens.

Edit: Double checked and no your sysinfo does state its an MSI however the Device ID is 13D7 (Non G-Sync) a Device ID of 1617 means its a G-Sync card.

Before you ask no you can't simply flash a MSI G-Sync vbios to a non G-Sync GPU as the Device ID is hardware based via resistors.

This has been covered before in this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/forcing-g-sync-on-13d7-980m-gpus.815029/

    Ok... Well thanks..

I am not sure if G-SYNC at 4GB is better than no G-SYNC at 8GB...

How important is G-SYNC over 2x the vram for a game like cyberpunk 2077 or fallout4 do you think?

Am i really worried about nothing?

Also its not just G-SYNC lost its no longer running at 75hz like it should be

I did find a BIOS that brought back the 75hz 1782IMS.11B

Still using the most updated one however

Firstly, the EDID on any bios after .11B is set to 60hz unless you have a G-Sync panel to which activates the 75hz EDID profile (Which depending on make and model of screen can be re-activated via either RegEdits or a modified driver for the Display adaptor).

Secondly the difference between 4GB and 8GB VRAM depends on in-game settings such as screen resolution and graphical settings i would imagen Cyberpunk would love a 8GB VRAM card over a 4GB VRAM card, as low VRAM can cause performance issues as well.

If you can find out what your screen is i might be able to help you with the 75hz part if its an LG LP173WF4-SPF1 panel (I have both 75hz and 100hz EDID's for that panel).

You can use something like CRU ( https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU) and a set of EDID's from me to get the 75hz back without issues.

If it is the LG LP173WF4-SPF1 using the CRU Utillity import only one of the .bin file thats in the .zip file attached, then reboot the system or use the restart64.exe file within the CRU zip.

You should be able to create a custom resolution with 75Hz as the refresh rate in the Nvidia Control Panel.

I've seen people OC this display as high as 90Hz.

Yes i tried this and it didn't work it just created a distorted fizzy screen, i assume that feature is for external screens, older BIOS bring it back to 75hz, But i want of course the most updated BIOS so i have to try the other method...

I managed to get my panel to 100hz but each panel is different.

Even the times will be slightly different, which is why I included the 3 .bin files, one directly from the system when gsync was enabled and the other two was custom tuned.

took me a bit to get back to this... what i find confusing is that CRU lists my display as something else totally... I tried one of your files it seemed to read out on the system as 1.000Hz ? ( is this how 100Hz is read ?)

i assume i am supposed to use the import feature...

    i didn't screen grab unfortunately

it did include my TV that i connect too sometimes

    it doesn't say "LG LP173WF4-SPF1"

so i am a little confused

Yes you use the import feature to import the .bin file of your choice you then run the restart.exe or restart64.exe to restart the display driver for the changes to take effect.

100Hz is 100hz the bin files i have included are for internal screen only. Personally i would import Gsync EDID.bin first and give that a try then failing that one try importing LP173WF4-SPF1-GE.bin, please don't go straight to using the 100HzOC.bin file yes it will have 75hz 85hz 100hz options but the latter options was tweaked on my panel.
