I use my laptop for only basic office use and to play WoW.
I have posted previously which led me to almost purchase the 640 over the competitors i was considering, pretty much stock with the blue ray. I am fairly computer illiterate. So dealing with drives, bios, and upgrades on my own is probably out of the question (which is a concern)
My big concern, and it may not be a problem but i can't tell, is that i hear so much about the 640 running very hot and needing cooling help.
Is this only for long high end gaming? Would i have this problem playing WoW? I do raid but I would say that I play 4 hours max at one sitting.
I am also in no real hurry to purchase and having seen the GT660 and GX660 specs, I am wondering if i should just wait.
I would probably go for the cheaper version (i believe is the gx660 as I would not need the power of the GT), but it looks like maybe MSI potentially corrected the heat problem with these from the posts that were made in this discussion area.
Anyways, looking to any insight on this. Thanks!

It's a gaming laptop. Of course it'll get hot. What are you expecting?

Or get something like the packaging of your laptop cooler on top of your lap as an extra layer for your laptop cooler.

I know that a gaming laptop is going to get hot, but I don't want it to be so hot it destroys the components under (what I would consider) medium level gaming. Especially, since I don't have the experience to work on it myself.
I don't mind it if it is hot, as long as it doesn't destroy the integrity of the computer. -

The new GT/GX660's are going to have a much better cooling system.

looking at the photos here:
MSI GX660-053US 15.6" HD LED Intel® Core i5 Gaming Notebook 9S7-16F121-053
seems they still only use one fan.
I would expect it to also run hot. -
The heatsink is and fan are much bigger + it has a button to manually speed up the fan for better cooling.

Although havnt gamed much, in the few days iv had the GX660R, game demos ive run have struggled to crack 70c on the gpu. The big jet fan also cools it down fairly quickly. So even tho not having playd demanding games, i doubt this machine will have any heat isues.

the gx640's heat issues arent even that bad tbh. Before I did my mod i would max out around 91oC after long hours of bc2 (maybe 5 hrs straight). 91OC isn't going to kill your components. I did some mods and now it maxes out at around 82oC. Wow is more of a cpu hog so you wont need to worry about temps because the cpu is well cooled. I dont see why people exagerate the thermal management of this laptop.
MSI 640 heat issue / wait for gx660?
