I would like to buy a 17" MSI 1722 Barebone with WUXGA.
As every reseller on Ebay seems to be sold out Im thinking about picking up one with WSXGA+ and replace the screen by myself with a WUXGA. Would this be possible and is there anything I need to consider except for size being the same?

The wuxga models part nr is 937-172226-002. This is probably not the lcd screens part number and to no help at all..

I've found two shops that actually list a wuxga screen for MSI1722 (GX720). Screen is named MSI GX 700 Extreme 17". It's a robbery though.

    Hello!

Be Careful with this. I've done quite a few of lappy screen replacements, and it is likely that changing screen resolution won't work as the MB to LCD cables are usually resolution specific. Example: 1280x800 cable is different from 1450x900 cable. This has been my experience on other lappys. I can't say for sure about this one because I don't have one. Another issue may be the power inverter placement as this can differ on LCD's. I have had success removing/replacing the inverter as long as the inverter power cable can be made to fit / reach / work.

    Good Luck!

Believe me the LG screen quality is no match for the SAMSUNG/LTN170WU-L02-V

What would be cool would be if you could get an LED WUXGA from a macbook pro into one of these... There are people selling them on ebay, I wonder if it'd work - anyone with more knowledge in this area know if it would?

This is going to be hard work.... But here is again the Disassemble SOP. There is shown everything you need. Good luck to thoes that are going to do so. IMO I think if you are going to change it do it because of the briteness, not the resolution. After It's almost impossible to find better GPU that fits.... there is no sence to put WUXGA screen. I'm talking of gamers poin of view.

By the way... just to ask somebody who has MSI notebook (GT725, GT735) with WUXGA display. Is it better than the WSXGA? I mean overal - brightness, contrast, ect. And I'm asking about the one used by MSI in their notebooks, not any other. Thanks.

It's always going to be a personal choice, for me it will be the WSXGA 1680x 1050 resolution.

Thanks, I've asked that question because I saw that I can find now same as mine laptop but with WUXGA screen. Of course an idea passed through my mind that I can sell mine as barebone and put my current parts in the new one. But after all I think not to do that. There are many cons... and the most important one for me is gaming. :D
