There seems to be a great deal of compatability questions on here regarding the MSI 1722 and processors.

Lets start compiling a list of who is using the MSI 1722, what their setup is, and did they need to update the BIOS and EC Firmware to run their current setup?

    The more details the better.....

    MS-1722 id1
    t9400 ES
4GB ocz ddr2-800 dual channel memory
    80GB seagate SATA HD
sony DVD/CD-RW(I miraculously was able to get a bezel for it)
    Vista Home Basic

No update to bios or EC firmware necessary. I did have trouble getting Vista to install. My solution was to format the HD from the command line(using diskpart) and to disable AHCI in the bios. I get blue screens if I enable AHCI, the system simply won't boot with it turned on.

Since building the system I have updated my EC FW to 4.29 and Bios to 1.0S
Planning on upgrading to a quad eventually.

A thread like this will be nice, now we need to add core temp readings at idle as well.

From what I have read from others on the forum, his processors are fine and will work like the retail. FOR HALF THE COST!

I actually bought it from this seller:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=150326272674

I don't have any complaints, I fought a little to get vista on my machine as I mentioned, but it didn't have anything to do with the cpu as far as I know. I use my Ms1722 for graphics, mostly with blender. I'm very happy with the performance.

I've heard quite a few people say that Extremeprocessor is a reliable seller with a good product, so I'm sure his stuff is good too. He ships from asia, so you'd have to wait a little longer. That's why I went for the one from Texas, I was in a hurry because of the first one I tried to buy... The guy ended up not having it, and didn't bother to tell me until a week after I paid for it.

Note that the ES processors do not give temp readings, that's really the only drawback.
