I know some people were asking about this... when Rob told me I actually assumed it was already known. :D

The barebones version of the GT683, the ms-16f2, is finally going to get the gtx 570m in mid November.
Pricing will be slightly below the 17.3" 1761, at around 850$ or maybe lower.

Now when they said there was no news of this barebones planned earlier... there really was no news at that time! I don't wanna hear any regrets, the 560m is a great card. :p

Anyway. I'm so excited for the most powerful 15.6" MSI barebone laptop ever that I might just buy one. How about you? :)

The pricing is a little over $100 from the current 16F2. Some of the big differences are:
    Matte 15.6" Screen
    570M
    180W Power Supply.

It is available for pre order. It will be great machine! :)

would it be possible for the machine to have the same back finish as the 17" barebone system?

It will have the same exact chassis and finish as the current MS-16F2 Barebone notebook model. The barebone will be about $859.00 as iI told niffcreature above. It will use the new intel N130 or 6230 wireless BT combo card. The N130 is pre-installed in the barebone. As soon as MSI has a solid ETA we will have it available for pre-order. It is also supposed to have a matte finish screen.

    Same motherboard/revision?
    Same heatsink for the GPU?
    Same LCD Inverter?
    V & A on the AC adapter?
Can you beg MSi for unlocked multiplier ratio for XM's in the BIOS? =D

Possibility for Steelseries keyboard? Is there a back light slot for the keyboard in this notebook?

Sorry for the peculiar questions. Excellent updates to an already excellent notebook.

Same motherboard/revision? Not released yet, info not available.
Same heatsink for the GPU? Not released yet, info not available.
Same LCD Inverter? Not released yet, info not available.
    V & A on the AC adapter? Same 180W used on 1761, GT780DX, GT683DXR
Can you beg MSi for unlocked multiplier ratio for XM's in the BIOS? =D Have not seen this option on any msi models to date and will most likely not be available on this model.

Possibility for Steelseries keyboard? Is there a back light slot for the keyboard in this notebook? Will use the same keyboard as the current 16F2 and 1761 no steelseries.

Lighted keyboard is the only thing missing from this great laptop

Rob, Justin, if you guys have any pull with MSI that would be a sweet option for this laptop :)

They would not put something like that on the barebone, especially when the retail one does not have it.

It would require a new motherboard design, along with all the verification that goes with it.

I thought only the slot was required. Look at the HP dv6tqe, is has the slot for the envy's lighted keyboard. I don't know if anyone has done it yet.

Oh if they really do share the same motherboard (683 and 780) then perhaps it just needs a slot and bios support.

This is great news, especially for those that like to get there hands dirty, looks like its a good deal but all it needs is the above mentioned baklit keyboard.
    Can you pre-order yet?
