    MSI 1651 barebone questions.

    So, my gateway crapped out. The Gpu died. I'm thinking about buying a barebones system and putting all the working components into it. I'd first like to know if my components are even compatible. (namely my cpu - the x7800). I'd also like to know where to get cheap ddr3 1066 ram to stick in this thing, as the gateway ram i have is garbage. Also, would my optical drive fit into here?

    Everything should work. Go to newegg for the ram. The cover of your optical drive will be mismatched though.

    The x7800 will work but it will only run at 800mhz, the system has a 1066 fsb. The overclock turbo feature will not work on the x7800.

    D'oh, so these barebones' dont come with a faceplate for the optical drive? I can remove mine from the old computer.

    Yes these barebones come with the Bezel and the optical drive. The older 1651's some didnt come with the drives... These are the refresh models and are a great buy also.. The GTS 160m is a great preformer...
