    Hey all,

I have found that I can't play Left 4 Dead in class when I'm not by the power outlet. In Left 4 dead, my FPS drops to 7 on battery and up to 50 on AC. There's a severe hit here. I'm rocking the 9-cell, so I don't really need the battery help. What can I do to disable this?

Shouldn't you be paying attention in class?

Senior in college taking Anthropology 110 to round out my credit.

I am infinitely more concerned with honing my zombie killing skills.

Did you try changing the power policy to Max Performance?

That's the powermizer nvidia driver setting kicking IIRC, which it does automatically when on battery power. Don't recall offhand if you can override it, but if you do, I'd expect MAYBE 1h of runtime, likely less...

Max performance doesn't work, Powermizer switcher program doesn't work.

Running Windows Vista 64-bit if that helps.

This is a feature built into all gaming laptops. You can try editing your registry for nvidia powermizer, but I don't recommend it.

They call this a feature? I could play Civ 4 on battery in class on my old Pentium M with a 128MB ATI card. I can't do that with this.

Oof. That's a rough one. I guess I just don't understand why it can't run the same on Battery as AC. All I need is about 50 minutes of battery life.
