Is there anywhere I can buy it as a barebone? Only place I found it was $1500 full equipped. Buying from the US gets me at $1300 CAD beforetaxes only with the WSXGA+ and P8400. ($150 shipping + 20% exchange rate)

Oconbudget is selling the WSXGA+ 1651 budget for $340 CONUS

I guess you would need to add a little more for shipping to Canada.

    Good luck.

PS: I helped my friend buy one of these barebone from Ocon... excellent cheap notebooks

no problem glad to help. if you need a contact for CPU(ES/QS) feel free to ask me about it. I got to know the ebay seller(extemeprocessor) after making 3-5 purchases. he usually set special pricing if i said I'm buying

Ok, I see someone here is selling a P9500 for $300...hmm (a new P8400 is $300 in Canada...). I still need to
    a) Convince my father
    b) See if I can buy a laptop on student loan outside of those sold by school.

Look at the MSI-1722 real cheap Ad listing in the MBR Marketplace, posted by OConBudget. zfactor has bought several of these already, and has posted a review in the MSI section.

The 15" MSI-1651 wsxga+ barebones was $335 US, including shipping, so with some extra to ship to Canada, it still shouldn't be too bad.

I found a T9600 [2.8 ghz] for $436 from Amazon shipped [zipzoomfly had the P9500 at $357 with shipping]. Intel 5300 Wifi at $40 from Amazon. OCZ 2gbx2 800mhz for a total of $45 and Hitachi 320gb 7200 rpm Hard Drive at $80 with $20 MIR from Newegg. So the whole build will be about $920.00 US.

Some of the "older" CPUs are a direct drop in, while the "newer" CPUs require a bios update to start up. See the RK Computer information for the directly compatible CPUs.
    Hope that helps...

T9400 is a direct drop in (my friend's) so, the T9600 should work out of the box as well

Thanks, but the reason I'm going barebone is to recycle my C90S' RAM, HDD and WLAN so I only need the barebone & cpu. :)

They don't seem to give away the T9600s. After I ordered it from Amazon, it went up $150 the next day - it normally goes the other way for me...

I wanted as fast a CPU as possible and in the original series, so bios flashing wouldn't be an issue. Still, I've spent over $1000.00 for allot less power in a Dell...

As my other laptop is a Clevo D901C, I would like some pep in this one... Now how do we mod a 9800m GTX into the MSI?
