hello every one,
my laptop main-board died, it is an ms-17611, since i have to take a new one, could some on tell me if the ms-17621 from the GT70 series will work for me ?
i have the i5-2430 and the GTX560m combo on the machine.
from the picture i found on the internet both look exactly the same, but the 17621 have H77 chipset where the 17611 have a H67. it is the only difference i can see, and i think the H77 will recognize the i5-2430m, what do you think ? or they have a different socket, which i can't see from picture![]()
if it is compatible i will go for the better 17621 one.
thank you for your help.

Changing the mainboard in an MSI GT series notebook is no easy task.
Are you skilled enough to do it.
Have you considered buying a used GT78? that's in working condition?
Something like this
MSI G Series GT780DX Core i7 2 20 8GB 750GB Gaming Laptop | eBay
Search ebay for more listings.
Also consult with NBR member majster msi about parts if you decide to go that route

Here's a disassembly video to give you an idea of the task

it will work, no worries, however the underlying problem will be the EC version to associate with your "touch bar buttons", though i think if the ms 17621 mainboard is with the barebones bios and EC the buttons will work flawlessly, other things like screwholes and connectors are identical but for your own safety, please check the disassembly video for both products to see if the screw holes are being put on different places but well, i seriously doubt it since they've been using the same chasis for quite a while
the 2 sata connector boards are the same for both generations so you don't have to worry about them, and hm77 on the MSI does read my i7 2630qm before i sold the cpu, so it should be compatible with your cpu, and gpu.....
majster msi should have both mainboards so you'll be able to verify with him regarding the screw placement and touch panel compaibility issue, please do message him and ask, good luck -
thank you very much for your answears
yes i'm skilled to repair it no worry, i repair phones and laptops in my free time
i will contact majster msi to confirm all is ok, i will keep you updated of any news.
i'm considerring also reparing the mainboard, but i can't found electronic part for it, i'll put a picture of the defective part, maybe you can help me.
here is the defective parts, the 3 same capacity i think, it is 330 what ?? nano farad micro farad ? what voltage it take ? or maybe it is not capacity ! if some one can help.

If you want to swap ms-1761 to ms - 1762 you need also to swap hdd board , sensorboard and sensorboard tape probably .
You cant just swap mainboard because other components are different. If you want I can try to repair your mainboaardor swap it for working one.
