It's possible to install the Wireless, TV-Tuner and the Intel Turbo Memory module.
For all how would like to know?
The MS-1722 (White box/Bare bone) version is delivered with 3 MINI PCI-E slots.
1x Wireless
1x TV-Tuner
1x ???????? (Intel Turbo Memory) but where is this slot.
This MINI PCI-E slot is located next to the touch pad under the c-cover.
To install the Intel Turbo Memory Module you need to disassemble the notebook to reach the Th hidden PCI-E slot.

sweet
theirs another one..so maybe i can put a wifi, tv tuner and a turbo memory..that would be good.
but one question though..have you tried putting in this sloti? (turbo memory, wifi or tv tuner) -
Thanks for letting us know its location! i thought the only other MINI PCI-E was located where your TV tuner is at present (UK Models dont have this i dont think)
-
I tested this slot with the Intel Turbo Module and it works.
It might work with the TV-Tuner, but the antenna cable is to short, this is the same for the Wireless. -
Hi!
@ RePaRaQu
It's impossible to make a better pic from the third Mini PCIe Slot?
thX -
I am going to get 2Gb turbo memory.
-
Sorry for push the thread!
??? -
No it's impossible, because then i need to open the complete notebook and it's not that easy to do.
-
thX -
will that slot support for example an 8gb SSD? I'd love to carry a sampling of my mp3's that way.
-
no one knows if the slot mentioned above will support a solid state disk?
-
Please check the post, it's for mini pci-e so no ssd support. (MSI doesn't support Intel Turbo Memory by default)
Sorry for the rough reply, but the MS-1722 ID1, ID2 and ID3 are note supporting any kind of NAND FLASH.
This is the same for the third mini PCI-E express slot.
It will work, but then it might cause stability issues and other kind of failures during use. -
i installed a 4G turbo memory on my 1722 but it showin "divice cannot start.i quess is not supported
-
In which slot have you installed this.
Which Intel Turbo Memory driver have you installed
What OS are you using.
Which BIOS version does you notebook use. -
i installed it the one next the fans, the driver, i dowloaded from intel wedside,
the OS is a vista ultimate X64 -
oh the bio is a 10s
thank you -
The slot next to the FAN is for the TV-Tuner, the Intel Turbo memory module will fit but the system will give you several errors and other issues when booting.
You need to put the Intel Turbo memory in the third slot, which is located under the cover next to the touchpad. -
thank's ill try
-
HI RePaRaQu
i look around,i could't find that slot where is locate, many thanks -
There is no slot by the touchpad, theres 2 slots, one for the wifi card, the other for a TV tuner, and a smaller slot for the bluetooth I believe..
-
maybe it's only the ID1 version that has this 3rd mini pci-e slot..
-
I looked at a few pictures of the inside of the ID1 and its the same as the ID2. There the same laptops inside..
-
well, then I think that RePaRaQu should provide us with more pictures to clear up this confusion. Because I 2 was going to buy the internal SSD card or a turbo memory. But now I'm not so sure anymore.
-
I just popped my cover off and there is no slot by the touchpad that I seen. RK computers has inside pictures of the ID1 and its the same as mine.
-
or you know what's also possible..that the slot is located on the other side of the mobo..so then you would have to open it all up to locate it.
you think you could check that out? -
I installed the following items.
Wireless, TV-Tuner and Intel Turbo Memory Module.
The third mini pci-e slot is located next to the touch pad, but you need the disassemble the complete notebook. (it's not reachable from the bottom)
What proof do you need, check it you self remove the LCD panel and remove the c-cover this is the cover with the touch pad. -
Is it the same with the GT725 models??
-
According my inside info yes, the third mini pci-e slot is located next to the touchpad underneath the cover.
So you need to disassemble the complete notebook to install the Intel Turbo Memory Module or to install a mini pci-e SSD module. -
Ok cool, thanks again for all the help!!
-
Confirmed there is a "Hidden Mini PCI-E Slot" near Mouse touch pad
See Pics in attachments
"Warning" Very difficult to reach must take the whole notebook chassis apart
Thanks "RePaRaQu" for discovering the slotAttached Files:

Intel Turbo Memory Version 1.9.0.1006
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...rating+Systems&lang=eng&strOSs=All&submit=Go!
Make sure to have BIOS 1.0S and EC Firmware version 4.29 for the ID1 one version.
Don't install the Intel matrix storage manager, if installed uninstall and install the new Intel Turbo Memory Version.
The new Intel Matrix Storage Manager is included in the Intel Turbo Memory Version. -
up and runing,thank's guys,
-
Does the turbo ram make any difference in speed with your msi 1722? Is it a big noticeable difference? Thank you in advance.
-
yeah, it make some difference, boot up much fastest
-
Do you have intel 4gb turbo memory installed?
Is boot up at least 2 times faster?
Does it make a difference with other programs? Internet explorer?
Does anyone know if a pci-e ssd can be installed in the slot? for example, a 60 gb mini pci-e ssd. -

can we get a list together of confirmed working turbo memory cards? im curious to see which will work, im eyeballing a possible 8gb or 16gb card, im going for an epic pagefile/buffer.
-
Hey guys, with turbo memory in mind, im just wondering if it can be used as a page filing system? Give my 5400rpm some more breathing space
All i need is up to 2gb of space because the page file normally doesnt overlap that?
If i had a 16gb one, i'd probably convert it into a ram disk (of some sort) hehe, be good fast access files. -
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
thats what im thinking of doing, there are ssd drives that use pci-e, im assuming its the same thing or can be configured like it, via vista or win7, shouldnt be any different that using a usb drive, except fast and not retarded.
Though daisy chaining cheap 32mb flash drives still makes me laugh. -
Haha yeah thats true, well the netbook ssds are mini pcie, so they will definately work (i may get one with like a 100mb read speed so that vista has a drive, alll tooo itself
)
-
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
thats what im saying, there shouldnt be a restriction size wise in terms of vista/win7's using of a drive for boosting, it should be the same as intel's flash cache idea, (turbo memory, but i think flash cache is a little more snazzy). so as long as the read writes are faster than a notebook hard drive there will be performance gains, also if you take into consideration that you are able to change the location of the page file or remove it completely if you have enough ram you should be able to drop it into the ssd card and get benefits, itd be great way to get that extra oomph. All intels tool does from my understanding is it loads the files associated with whatever task is being done the most frequently so as to speed up access. which will be great for photoshop and stuff, however games may not get a huge benefit, but we'll see about that.
-
I guess load times should get a bit of a kick, (DEADSPACE TAKES YEARS TO LOAD lol) but the benefits are definately there, and the flash idea was great, i wonder if i could get hold of a fast SDHC SD card, so that i can leave it there perminantly.

acer actually designed their netbooks for exactly that, they have an sdhc card slot that makes the sd card sit completely flush with the notebook and theres a standard 5 in 1 reader on the other side. if you have the SSD model it acutally automatically adds it to your storage space.

I installed the turbo memory 4gb in my MSI 1722 id2 hidden mini pci-e slot by the touchpad.
I am running vista 64 with Bios v1.0s and Firm 4.29. I am running version 1.9 driver for the turbo memory.
When I try to setup the turbo memory in the Intel Turbo Memory Dashboard, a message appears:
"It appears that the Intel Turbo Memory device is not functioning properly or is not present"
When I go to device manager, it is recognized.
When I go to the intel turbo memory console and check the enable windows readydrive, it says restart pc and I do. When it restarts, it doesn't stay checked.
Please help me get this up and running. Could it be a bad turbo memory chip or is it something with my system?
Thank you very much for you help. All is greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
I did more research and figured out the problem. The Intel 4gb turbo memory works perfectly now. Gives bootup, programs, etc a boost. -
Automatikjack Notebook Evangelist
well then, whats the report, any special settings we should be aware of?
-
When I installed the 4 gb turbo memory card, I didn't take the whole laptop apart. I took the screws out that are located in the front bottom or under the touchpad side to open the laptop up ~1-2 inches in the front of the laptop. To tighten the screw I used an electric drill phillips drill bit that is ~1 inch and turned it with my fingers to tighten it. Make sure the card is in the mini pci-e slot completely. This is a very tight squeeze for your fingers, but it can be installed this way because I did it.
Now that the card is installed, do the the following:
Enable AHCI in Windows Vista
This is from Microsoft Support
1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor
Enable AHCI in Bios settings
Download and install Intel Turbo Memory 1.9 Driver from intel web site and it should install matrix storage manager also
Next step may need to be done if Matrix Manager doesn't install with Turbo Memory Driver 1.9
Download and install Intel Matrix Storage Manager 8.7 Driver from Intel web site
After most of the above steps, it will tell you to restart vista, so restart it asap. -
When installing the Intel Turbo Memory Software Version 1.9.xxxx it will also install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
Don't install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager separately, this will give you the error as reported above.
I am using the same setup for along time and it's working very well especially under Windows 7. (it rock the boot time).
