    MS-16F31 BIOS 8 MB, chip on mainboard only 4 MB !!!!

    Hi there , just decide to look and reflash my BIOS on mainboard with programmer and was very surprised when realize that BIOS chip on mainboard is W25Q32xxx. In this case 32 means Bits, which is 4 MB !!!! How is possible to flash manufacturer BIOS 8 MB on this chip ????

    What bios are you trying to flash that is 8MB?

    Are you sure you have a 16F3? It looks more like 16F1 which uses W25Q32 (4MB).

    I checked all BIOS files from MSI web site for GT series- 3td generation Intel. In all archives BIOS file is 8MB. Where I am wrong ?

    I would suggest following Kevin's advice and checking the model. Do you have pictures?

    It may be wrapped along with EC, in which case you need to extract it first. Upload it, if you want.

    Second option is that it uses a second eeprom to store the other half, so there'd be another 32Mbit close by. Read one and you know which half goes to which eeprom.
