    Hi there,

I know it is kiddy to register and open a thread, but there is
a question, and I really can't find an answer on the whole web. :(

The Roadmap which has been in the web at the beginning of this year
told us something about a 14" AMD Notebook. I'm very interested in
this notebook, because it is just what I need. ;)

But unfortunatly I have never heard anything about it again.
So does anyone of u know if it is still alive, or has MSI killed it
    (for another sick 15,4" nb?)
    Would be a shame.

Is MSI still alive? I mean, I was all for building a 1042, but this is taking a way long time.

MSI has traditionally had major delays getting their notebooks to market, not suprising at all they haven't released anything yet since this is the time they were promising release. I wouldn't expect any new units to start showing till probably october but the quality of an MSI notebook to any of the major brands willbe much higher and the unit will last alot longer.

I think I can answer some of your questions, but unfortunatly not mine. :(

On german website today there were some news on the notebooks.
    http://www.msi-computer.de/news/mitteilung.php?Typ=2&News_id=249
MSI will be on the german IFA and show the notebooks M662, which they
say should be available now, and the new notebooks L735 and L745, both
    featuring MXM.

    Edit:
I'm also surprised the notebooks will use the SB450 Southbridge.
The SB600 is long available and so much better.

To aurawolf's point, maybe MSI's delay in releasing the 1042 is not the worst thing in the world. I mean, if they are willing to go the extra mile to ensure product quality, I can handle a few extra weeks of waiting. A few extra months, now that's pushing it.

HP/Compaq is certainly hurrying their TX2 notebooks out the door. Apparently, their new dv9000z notebook is missing an HDMI port, which I guess limits its ability to connect to external monitors or docking stations or something. This is certainly a fact I wouldn't like to learn after investing in a new notebook.

As others have mentioned, though, I don't have limitless patience to wait for the 1042. The Acer Ferrari is out, and now there's the dv9000 series, so there are other options for TX2 lappies. Also, every day waited means another day closer to Merom. I'd prefer an AMD based system, but if Intel can get their foot in the door with a dual-core, 64-bit product, then I would be inclined to listen.

Asus actually has a 15.4" turion X2 notebook out with a 7600GO video card, one of our distributors has it up and in stock but not a ton of info on it yet, so there are options other then the big guys who in my opinion don't make that great or well built of units. The model number that is shown is the Z92J.
