MSI will be releasing a new 17" model in early March (not sure how firm that is at this point) which will offer the features below:

Napa Platform (Centrino Duo/Duo Core support)
    WSXGA+ LCD (Glossy)
    DDR2 400/533/667 support
nVIDIA G73M (Geforce Go 7600) / ATI M56 (x1600) w/ 256MB VRAM (I guess it is not yet decided which they will go with)

The rest seems to be pretty much carried over from the MS-1035.

Has AMD Taylor got any electrical specifications? I prefer a cool laptop so far.

I know, I know. I am actually waiting on 2 things
    1) To finally find a job!
    2) Settlement check from my car accident! (which will hopefully be around the march release of the 1037, since I haven't been too impressed with XP64bit)

Also, on that little roadmap I found MSI show a 1038 with AMD Turion and x1600 to be released sometime around March also. Any knowledge of this one Unleaded or CoffeeShark?

Maybe the .pdf you found is not up to date. The Turion 15.4" with an X1600 we saw on display was labeled as the MS-1039

yeah, if the pdf is more than a few weeks old there will be changes as it gets closer to market.

oops sorry guys, I should have specified it is labled 1038 and it is a 17". They also have the 1039 listed for a march/april release.

The pdf I found is dated Jan 03, 2006 for its creation date.

Hmm, I guess they didn't have any design samples for the 17" as that was not shared with us at the Star Forum. I do vaguely recall seing something about a 17" now that I think of it....think you are right that it was an x1600 or possibly an Nvidia solution...don't quote me on that though. :)

IT seems to me that MSI seems to go AMD/ATI and Intel/nVidia. Which seems to be the way almost all companies are now that I think about it. Oh, well really interested in whatever comes with an nVdidia 7600 :D

    So ...

I was thinking about getting the MS-1036 , config is in my sig. But I'm not getting it till around April. So ...

The MS-1037 is Dual Core, and the MS-1039 exactly like the MS-1036 ... except it's got a better video card. Is this right? I really would like to get the Dual Core, except that I really don't use 2 programs at the sametime. maybe x-fire, steam, dod:s ... but that's nothing like burning a dvd while surfin the web, listening to music. dual core seems nice for the impatient, untill they start implementing it in my music software, im going to stay single core for now. Should I wait for the MS-1039?

    [hold up]

i just saw the 6 cell battery ... screw that. MS-1036 it is. I wish I could get the same setup, but with a Nvidia GeForce 6800 ... mainly for the shaders 3.0 support. but i don't want a gaming laptop anyways, this baby is for music, and gaming is for what i'll do whenever i have time to game on the road. i'm sooo stoked about this.

    dead_red,

the 6-cell is listed, but we're hoping the current 9-cell will also fit and be a great option.

    unleaded,

you're right, they did list both ati and nvidia on that system.

Can I get a clarification, because I think I got lost in some of the information being thrown around in the posts above??

    MS-1039 = 15.4", AMD, 256MB x16000 (replaces MS-1029), coming soon (Feb/Mar?)
    MS-1036 = 17", AMD, 256MB X700 (currently shipping)
    MS-1037 = 17", Intel, GPU?? (coming in Feb/Mar)
    MS-1038 = ????

How correct am I with the above models??

    Thanks!

    DH

Ok, here you go (all this is according to the MSI Roadmap floating around)
    MS-1039 = 15.4", AMD, 256MB x16000 (replaces MS-1029), coming soon (Feb/Mar?)- Yes, also should note 1280x800 resolution and no ddr2 support
    MS-1036 = 17", AMD, 256MB X700 (currently shipping)- Yes
MS-1037 = 17", Intel, GPU?? (coming in Feb/Mar)- Yes, note Intel Duo Core processor and 667Mhz ddr2 with unspecified nVidia/ATI gpu
MS-1038 = ????- Pretty much the same specs as the 1036 with graphics updated to ATI X1600. Mar/Apr release.
