    Hi,

First post newbie building my first notebook. :)

I'm getting an MSI MS-1035 and I have a few questions.....

What brand inexpensive RAM have you used that works with your units?

Is there that much of a difference between a Dothan 530,540,550,560?

Same with a 5400rpm or 7200rpm HD? Good brands?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

The Intel model numbers you listed are for Pentium 4s. The Pentium M series would start with 7 (ex. 730, 740, 750...).

MSI only has 2 memory manufacturers on their approved vendor list at this time, Supertalent and Kingston.

For the best 5400 and 7200RPM HDs, look at Hitachi and Seagate.

    unleaded,

This is what I wound up getting......

    Asus Z70va w/combo drive
    Intel Pentium M 750 1.86GHz 533MHz
    CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB DDR2 533 (PC2 4200)
    HITACHI Travelstar 5K100 40GB 5400 RPM ATA-6

    Total cost for parts $1175

Should be easy to put together. Thanks for your advice.
