Hey I was considering buying either the ms-1029 or the ms-1032. Which one would perform better if i was planning to run games on it, do some coding in the hl2 sdk, and run potentially linux or maybe windows 64 bit edition? Also, how loud are these laptops comparing to a dell laptop? Are there any benchmarks for the nvidia go 6600?

P.s i was also considering the ms-1022 how would that compare against these other two?

In terms of gaming the MSI 1029 and 1032 would drastically outperform the 1022 based on the GPU's included in these machines. The MSI-1022 has a Geforce Go 6200 which is a low end card where as the 1029 and 1032 have a Geforce Go 6600 and ATI X700 which are midrange cards. The 14" form factor is appealing though....

they're basicly the same machine. one uses amd and the other pentium. so it really depends what you prefer. the amd has 64 bit processer while the pentium has ddr2. I have a msi 1029 mainly for the 64 bit processer, good for the future.

    hope this helps

If you want to try Win64, yu'll have to go with the 1029, the 1032 will not run it. If you want to install Linux, you'll need the 1032, as Linux ATI drivers are scarce and poor.

    Other than that, same machine.

And the 1029 has a ATI x700 and the 1032 has a Nvidia 6600 would also be different. Which of the two gpus are better or does it really matter?

from another review, seems like the 1032 gets better 3dmark05 scores and better battery life.

From real life, they are honestly the same thing. Go with whatever is cheaper.

I agree with what Hucsman says but as mentioned earlier ATI sucks on Linux

so it depends on what OS you want....

    Ms-1032 for Linux
    Ms-1029 for Windows XP x64
