    Google Translate

Itzzent the german moderator from msi got that bios update.. I've successfully updated my gt60 16f3 to 51x.. Itzzent said this bios works from 6xxm,7xx and up to 9xxm videocards.. Why dont you try the 970m?..

So, just go into MS-DOS, type

    and hit enter?

Do the same for the firmware?

And is this compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit SP1?

you can flash the Bios also under Windows, use for this "flashwin64.bat". Under DOS you must use "flash.bat". The EC Firmware can be also flash under Windows, look in the Directorys.

sure, the Bios works fine with Windows 7. Just chose "Legacy Mode" in the Bios, because UEFI will not work with Win7 on MSI Notebooks.

It's a Medion Erazer X7817, an MS 1762 barebone. Probably should have mentioned that earlier, apologies.

    Current BIOS:
    Version E1762IM7.107
    Date 25/05/2012

This Bios is only for MSI Devices. Medion use another Bios.

So I can for example use with my Medion X6819 (MS-16F2) no MSI Bios, neither Whitebooks or Retail MSI devices. If I use this version, my right USB and the subwoofer does not work anymore. Whether this is also true for the MS-1762 devices, I do not know, but is quite probably. The Medion devices, there are as only blue backlight in keyboard ...

So you're saying that even though Medion uses a different BIOS to MSI machines, you can flash the BIOS you provided (E1762IMS.51X) on your own Medion laptop, but your USB and subwoofer stops working. Even though those two stop working, you still end up with a laptop with an up-to-date BIOS and thus support for 7xxM or later graphics cards?

If it's the only way, I would rather sacrifice those two USB ports you mentioned on the right (they are regular USB 2.0 ports and I already have two other USB SS ports on the left of my laptop, as well as one regular one) and even LEDs so I can get my GPU working.

Or, if there is a BIOS I can flash on a Medion laptop, or maybe I might need a BIOS customized and tuned specifically for my laptop model.

My keyboard doesn't have any backlight. I use an external keyboard as it is.

i don´t have flash the MS-1762 51x Bios on my MS-16F2 :) this was only an example that Medion use another Bios versions.

When you don´t have a Backlight Keyboard, than you need also another EC Firmware.

    try this out:
    Bios 30P: Zippyshare.com - E1762IMS.30P.zip
    Non-BL EC Firmware 503: Zippyshare.com - 1762EMS2.503.rar

btw: i´ve changed my Name now to my "normal" Username :)

its easy to update bios.. just to go msi website and go to your msi notebook model and go to "bios update".. from there on. there's a guide on how to update your bios. flashing under ms-dos wont do.. You need the "afudos" bios update .. Just go to msi website and read how to update. It's very easy

Either way does I suppose - whether it's Windows or DOS. I prefer to use DOS since the minimal amount of other programs and services are loaded, and you execute what you need to run.

Tried this, got the same result.

DOS bios flashing is the preferred method for safety as it's less likely to go wrong.

SCRATCH THAT, I just flashed the 30P bios with the /x parameter and it worked flawlessly! WiFi still working, USB ports fine, took a bit of adjusting in the BIOS (had to change a setting from RAID to AHCI in order to get Windows to boot without a BSOD) but other than that it boots to Windows perfectly!

I flashed the firmware as well, and now, the card is showing up in Device Manager!

The triangle is reporting Code 10, but I'm going to try installing drivers now that the thing has actually shown up!

The device path looks promising too:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11E0&SUBSYS_10E81462&REV_A1\4&18DFCB4F&0&0008

Only "issue" is that some LED lights and controls have switched functions. The power button LED doesn't come on anymore though the notebook itself powers on just fine, but that's alright since it doesn't stop me from making this thing into the gaming machine it so rightfully was!

    IT WORKS!

    IT'S OVER! IT'S FINALLY OVER!

GPU runs at an acceptable 30-40c idle temp, will test games out later!

God good, that was one hell of a perilous time for me. I am so extremely happy right now: not only did I fix the problem at hand, I even managed to upgrade to a better graphics card! (1.5GB to 3GB!!!)

THANKS IMMENSELY TO ALL THAT HAVE HELPED! And good luck to anyone else that may have similar issues now or in the future!

I am so making a tutorial out of this, but for now, anyone with a 1762 Medion machine:

    1. Flash MSI BIOS (preferably 30P, use /x parameter if you need to)
    2. Flash the firmware (use the -e parameter if you need to)
    3. Install driver
    4. ???
    5. PROFIT!

Great, good to know that the MSI Bios works great with the Medion. So you can also flash the 51x, this Bios is specialy for the GTX7**M Series.

One question though, ever since I flashed the MSI BIOS my sound's a bit off... is there any way I can somehow use the stock Medion sound settings (with my current BIOS of course) or is there no other way to fix it but to revert?

Basically a minor decrease in sound quality, but quite the impact on volume. I have to turn up the volume on my headphones to about halfway between all the way up and all the way down, my Windows volume at 100%, and ANOTHER volume dial on the headphone receiver (I use a wireless pair of headphones). I find myself having to fiddle around with various dials, if my headphone volume is turned up too high I hear a buzzing noise inside the headphones which means it's too loud, and it's very annoying after a while.

My Medion laptop came with Realtek Audio HD Manager, and on that interface it said "Powered by MSI", but strangely, when I flashed the 30P bios, it changed to "Powered by DYNAUDIO" (This is also displayed on my startup screen). I tried installing the driver from another MSI laptop which had the 30P BIOS, then I tried using the latest Realtek driver.

It's not really that bad, but I would prefer to have whatever settings Medion put into my stock BIOS, alongside the 30P BIOS. If that isn't possible then perhaps there's some alternative. Basically just better quality sound + higher volume.

Games are somehow affected as well. The game music is relatively quiet while things like gunshots are louder, and sometimes when I'm browsing through Windows Explorer, certain noises double-play over eachother (e.g navigating to a folder, pop-up chimes etc.)

You can use Win8.1 without any problems with the 51x Bios, you must only change your Bios Setting from Legacy Mode to UEFI and Secure Mode must be enable. I use this Biosversion also with Win 8.1 & UEFI.

Thank You! And where you can see a list of changes the BIOS version 51x? What opportunities are available after installation? And as in the archive with the BIOS file for the firmware was version T24, he wanted to know what version OS? By Win7 or Win8? And what changes it brings?

Has anyone that upgraded this machine to 780M also upgraded to Windows 10? A person reached out to me in another forum asking for the best Windows 10 driver to use and I am not familiar enough with it to give him any advice. I did give him a link to this thread.

Driver from Nvidia.com should be able to handle it without any issues.

    Hello,
    I can buy a One M73-2N (MS-1762) GT70 relative.
    It has now
    bios version E1762IMS.30M (07/06/2012)
    EC version 1762EG61 (04/02/2012)
Could it be updated with the bios uploaded here to support 8xx and/or 9xx ?
    Thank you

EDIT: I guess it's a Tech Inferno modded bios since it shows Xonar's unlock T|I
    Can its card be upgradable?

    @oile The GTX8**M and GTX9**M don´t need another Bios.

@Subil yes say are. For your Win8 Key, you must enable UEFI. Otherwise Win8 / Win 10 can not read the key.
