Hey guys. I am getting an error on my MS-1039:
    ------------------------
    MGSysCtrl

    Detecting Model Type Faild!

You May Not Run This Program Correctly.
    -------------------------
My only option is to click "OK". When I do, it closes the System Control Manager and I no longer see icons when I do things like turn the volume up, adjust the brightness, or turn on the camera.

    How can I correct this?

    What OS are you running?
Did you just upgrade to vista?

I don't understand what that program does anyway. What's the point of it?

It is for the hotkeys and on-screen feedback of system functions. wireless/BT, etc.

From the errors in this thread it is probably the wrong version SCM for the installed OS. The SCM is specific to the os.

I have the same problem with my L720. I had it sent away to MSI, and they came back just setting up the comp with admin, and not limited. They said it was a 'software' problem so were not responsible
