Lately I've been having this problem where when I unplug the A/C cord to my MSI-1029, the screen turns into a multicolored array of vertical bars and the machine is nonresponsive. I have to hold down the power and do a hard reboot after this. It's become increasingly troublesome because when it did this earlier just a few minutes ago, it wiped out all my Firefox settings and bookmarks. Can anyone tell me why this is going on?

On the other hand I've only started unplugging the laptop and moving it around about two weeks ago, before that I almost always leave it on my desk plugged in. So whatever is causing this may have been there from the beginning.

Edit: Forgot to mention... the same thing happened once last week when the laptop was on but unplugged and I was carrying it down stairs. I opened it up and it was locked up the exact same way. So perhaps it isn't directly related to unplugging the A/C cord.

What video Drivers are you using? This might be causes by using ATI's and not MSI's.
