    Good to hear!
I'll probably get a GT60 and upgrade it later since its just a simple swap!

But this brings to mind, If the chasis is capable of handling the 7970M, can we expect a 680M in it?

They list eyefinity support, so it must have more display outputs.

Unfortunately guys I have tried the 7970M in the MSI GT70 Barebone and I have to report that it currently doesn't work...

Fan stuck at 100% and no way to switch to the AMD GPU :(

Also have the fully unlocked bios with all the SG settings but didn't help..

Oh dear, well it must be the optimus implementation.

The fan situation is fixable.... the graphics not so much.

Tried playing around with the init first controls?

Does that mean the gt60/16f3 will be incompatible with the 7970m too?

For the moment yep, it's incompatible - best bet is to wait for AMD Official drivers supporting Enduro.

    @Meaker,
I've tried a LOT of tricks. Firstly for the fan, I thought our EC mods would do it but nope, it's really stuck.

In the bios, we have a considerable amount of settings and I've highlighted the ones that could be interested here:

Already asked some help from svl7 but so far I can't turn off the iGPU (each test led to blank screen, even with an external monitor) and I can't seem to install the Dell and Clevo drivers - only the MOD one works but obviously doesn't allow me to switch to the GPU which is...useless then.

Will have to wait for the 680M in the GT60/70 I suppose, or a Clevo 7970% + AMD Drivers would certainly do the job.

The display output could be perma wired into the integrated GPU.

But that's your aim, to tell the system to use the output of the dedicated GPU.

What happens when you switch primary display to PCIE?

Great find Meaker! I'll be getting 7970+heatsink from GX series. BTW GX60 itself looks great choise for price/performance. ~1200$ in Europe means 800$ in US, I think. Good move MSI!

The MSI 5870m heatsink along the 7970m do a perfect job Tim4 - at least in the old MSI's :D

It's priced at $1200 USD as far as I can see from the article, if it was $800 that would barely cover the cost of a 7970 let alone the screen and cpu. It does look like an excellent buy though, too bad that the APU and 7970 are structured differently so the built-in crossfire APU+GPU option won't work.

That technology though is something I am extremely excited about and really hope AMD can pull their processors back into the running.

Gee thats unfortunate. Maybe we should contact that guy Xonar who does MSI BIOS mods? There must be a hidden option in the BIOS to disable optimus...

Everything has been unlocked, both gpu and igpu are muxed :( can't switch off Optimus or Enduro just like Clevo's EM.

Maybe new AMD drivers will allow me to switch GPUs! I also tried with the Clevo 7970M but still the same ;(

Need an hm series 7970m by the sounds of things. Did you try pci-e instead of sg?

    Currently testing the 7970m btw.

Failsafe is SG so removing the battery and resetting the bios should bring it back if it does black screen.

Best clocks as stock voltage are 975/1600.
