I was hoping someone could help me... I just purchased a new MSI GS65 Stealth Thin laptop and noticed that my mouse lags often (where it occasionally stops moving and jumps to another point on the screen). I'm using an Anker 4 port USB 3.0 hub which worked great when plugged into my HP Spectre x360 on the left side of the unit; however when I plug the same hub and same keyboard/mouse combination (Logitech), the mouse is not responsive or smooth... it is laggy/janky while connected to the left side of the GS65. I don't know why it is laggy on the MSI vs. the HP laptop; but does anyone have any idea on how I can fix it?

And be sure to use Logitech drivers - with Microsoft drivers my old mouse is laggy.

Thanks, I'll give those a try! I remember reading something about turning off a feature for USB where it keeps putting hubs to sleep, but im not sure that is the issue. I don't even know where my hub is listed under the device manager since it shows so many devices under the USB selection.

One more thing I wanted to mention, I bought a 310 steelseries mouse that's connected directly to the USB port on the right side and that one runs super smooth. The track pad also works great. So it's just the Anker 4 port USB hub that is acting wonky with the gs65. I even removed my external HD from the hub to make sure it wasn't drawing too much power. I wouldn't think a Logitech mouse and keyboard would cause issues. I can try installing the Logitech drivers but I don't recall installing any on the HP Spectre. The same hub ran fine with the same mouse and keyboard connected. It even worked fine with my 4TB Seagate drive connected to the hub. I know... first world problems.

What happens if the mouse is connected to the USB port directly without the hub?

Great question! I haven't tried that. I'll give that a go tonight and let you know.

So I connected the same mouse and keyboard directly to the 2 left ports on the GS65 and everything works perfectly! So what does that mean in regard to the Anker hub acting laggy?

You're using a single USB port on a laptop connected to a non-powered hub. The port can't power the hub properly because the hub is NOT self powered. You would need a self powered hub (externally powered) for it to work properly. It might work on desktops because desktops are not power castrated nor come with cancer firmwares like laptops do.

Lack of power, plug in low power devices to conserve sufficient resource for KB/MS, or just plug them separately on another hub. Or, use a hub that allows you to plug in an external power source.

I think I found out the solution... I had another mouse connected to the right USB port (SteelSeries 310). When I disconnected that mouse, the mouse and keyboard connected to the hub are now working smoothly.
