Does anybody know how to fix a lap top LCD?? I have a MSI 16332, after i turned it off for a brief period of time i couldn't turn it back on. I thought it was the video card but when i hooked up the lap top to the tv i could use it but the screen was still off and not functioning. Does anybody have any idea of what is going on and what is the problem?

The backlight is probably turned off/down. To turn it back on/up use a combination of the "fn" key and one of the "f" keys. Theres probably something that resembles a monitor on there.

Fluorescent tube use for backlight might be dead. 2 just died on me one in a powerbook and another in an older ibook but they lasted me about 10y...

Yeah, you could probably find a replacement tube online somewhere (no idea where for PC parts, the powerbook & ibook ones I know are listed on Apple specific parts sites...)

Usually trying to replace it yourself likely wouldn't be fun as you generally have to pretty much take the entire notebook case apart as the tube is usually along one side of the display portion of the case which means that'd also need to be taken apart, and it might not even be the tube, but I really think it is if it's not responding to keyboard light controls...

i.e. If you're not good at disassembly/re-assembly have someone else do it for you. [EDIT] working on notebooks is ALOT different from desktops... and you probably won't be able to find a service manual. (Have those for the powerbook and ibook myself...) [/EDIT]
