    Hi.
i just finished building my msi 1651 barebone and it has been working great until I bought the Sims 3 and COD WaW for it. Now when playing on either one on medium settings the keyboard and touchpad just freezes after some playing time :( .
If I put the games on low settings I can play longer but it still freezes. When it freezes the game keeps running fine, also when I try to turn it off with the power button that don't work either so I have to take out the battery. When not running games my laptop is fine and run for hours/days (I don't usually turn it off) without freezing up . Does anybody know why? And how do you change the program assigned to the P1 button?

    Thanks in advance. ;)

I've seen other people report this happening with their GX620. If i remember correctly, they fixed it with a BIOS update.

    @leipo

I updated the bios to 1.0v as soon as I had the os installed on the laptop unless there is a newer version. I got this one from the global msi website since nothing was on the US version.

I really doubt its the bios or firmware, 1.0v bios is the newest version and the firmware hasn't had a update since october last year. I doubt the barebones are shipping with something older than that.

cfcoleman you posted 62°C while not playing games correct? If that is the case I think we already found the culprit. I have one more monitor program I would like you to use. This one is called gpu-z which you can download here
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1379/mirrors.php.

Run this one and click the sensors tab and then click the continues refresh box. Report back with your core and memory clocks while not gaming. Don't forget to post back with your temps while gaming.

I had the same problem with mine and a firmware update fixed it, Instead of doubting people you should let him check to see if he has the current firmware installed.

The temp reached 83 degrees but by the time I saved it, it was at 79.
Could it be my processor? I have a intel t9400.
Also the core clock is 500 mhz and the memory clock is 800 mhz.

@nacr05 i agree but Rorschach mentioned a point: HEAT which can also result the system to lag because of overheating, everything is clocked down to protect the system from overheating and or frying itself.

@cfcoleman check the BIOS version and the EC Firmware version.
Make sure to get the correct BIOS and EC Firmware version when performing the update to the latest version.
MSI Brand or Whitebox Brand & Turbo or Non Turbo.

The latest BIOS version is listed below.

    MSI BIOS:
    A1651IMS.10V

    MSI EC Firmware:
    Non Turbo - 1651EMS3.431
    Turbo - 1651EMS1.431

    Whitebox BIOS:
    A1651IG6.10V

    Whitebox EC Firmware:
    1651EG61.431

!!!! Keep in mind BIOS update/flash and or EC Firmware update/flash are don on your own risk !!!!

    Files are ready for download.

Good luck with the update and the info. :)

I don't think its the cpu, mine gets to those temps and a little higher sometimes while using turbo mode. Your temps seems quite a bit higher than mine and I have my system overclocked. Mne never goes past 73C. Use a book or something to prop up the back of your laptop , place it just far enough so that it doesn't cover any vents, try to use a book thats 2-3 inches thick. Also what graphics drivers are you using?
