Just ordered it from rkcomputers in stony island NY. Have heard good things about them and they are a direct vendor of MSI. I talked to the guy there and he was very helpful and didnt feed me any crap. Heres the specs.

Overal i will be using the laptop for gaming and web-use.

    --MSI MS 1039--

    15.4'' WXGA TFT (1280x800) Glossy/Glare Widescreen Display
    ATI Radeon X1600 256MB VRAM
    AMD Turion 64 MT-40 2.2GHz 25Watt 1MB mobile w/HTT
    2GB DDR 400Mhz (2x1GB)
    100GB ATA @ 5400rpm 8MB Cache
    Built-in Super-Multi drive-Dual Layer (supports DVD RAM)
MSI MS-6833A 802.11g PCI WLAN Card
    Windows XP Professional with SP2

Now i was contemplating on waiting for the WSXGA screen with the higher resolution, but the tech i was speaking with said that he himself owns the 1039 with the WXGA Glossy screen and says its gorgeous.

    What do you think guys

Pretty good, I'd have gotten an ASUS S96j myself, same specs except for the CPU is better, I like the company better, and it's cheaper.

The MSI 1039 is good though, not saying you didn't make a good choice.

Thanks. Ya i really wanted an AMD Turion. I read this somewhere that the yonah Duo is not as strong as the Turion in most regards?

    ASUS S96j vs MSI 1039

"Interesting, as I've read that X1600 in the MSI 1039 is stock 450/450, whereas the S96j mem wont even get that high overclocked (in this particular notebook)."
    reply
"Some people get 4000 in 3dmark05, while others only 3700 or so. This isnt much worse than the MSI 1039 probabily, who might get 4300-4400 tops. The thing is, this laptop will run much cooler and sells for much less $$. Not to mentium Intel Core Duo vs AMD Turion"

Here is a question for anyone to answer...I read that you should not run your game card(?) at full power all the time or when you are not gaming to save battery life and other things? is this true and if so how do i turn it on/off

Nope, wherever you read that, whoever wrote it didn't know what they were talking about. The Yonah is, clock for clock, better, and with a major clock difference, for example, MT-40 vs. T2300, the Yonah would still perform better in quite a few instances.

That'd be odd as they have the exact same card.

Which did whomever you quoted mean?

" The thing is, this laptop will run much cooler and sells for much less $$. Not to mentium Intel Core Duo vs AMD Turion "

    As in, which notebook.

Ya im not sure who he was referencing(which notebook) bc he is talking about cooling so i was thinking he was saying the Turion but then he says "core duo vs AMD turion" which sounds like hes favoring the Intel. Oh well, I may have gotten the msg twisted

Anywho i believe you as i am probably not as tech inclined as you.

I quess my reasoning for buying the 1039 w/turion MT-40 2.2ghz is that i dont think there is anything i can throw at it that it cant handel with ease

In the catalyst control center under graphics settings look for "POWERPLAY" this is where you can adjust your GPU settings :D

Thanks. So just keep it at max while gaming/watching dvds etc. and then drop it down to lowest during all else?

It has settings you can change based on remaining battery life etc. Once you get it setup you won't have to go back to change it. :D
