What OS do you plan on using? I couldn't decide if I should get 32 or 64 bit Vista because of how 32 bit doesn't recognize a full 4 gigs or something?
I'd reccomend you increase the drive to 7,200 RPM though. -
I ended up purchasing Vista Business x64 through my university because I could get it for a reduced rate.
From what I have seen around these forums the differences between the 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM isn't that noticeable. I did have a budget, so maybe someday I'll upgrade. Or if SSD become reasonably priced I'll go that route.
Thanks! -
the 250gb 5400rpm is almost equal to the 160gb 7200rpm in speed and it makes less noise and supposedly uses less power(this is disputed though). I ordered mine on july 25th with almost the same specs as yours, **** you pre order
-
I personally probably don't notice the HD bottleneck. I'll be moving from an 80GB 5400RPM laptop drive so I imagine having one with twice the capacity will probably provide a barely noticeable increase in performance. In addition I'm moving from such an old platform (Thinkpad T30) that everything is going to seem faster!

Get Hitachi 7K200 or 7K320 but not a Seagate. Since Seagate 7200RPM has been killed by WD 5400RPM which is an insult.

Just a heads up. I ordered the same laptop with the same specs late July. I was just told by PN.com that I won't be getting my laptop until Mid Sept voiding any further delays. The reason for the delay is the screen.
You might have ordered your computer from a different place, but only place I can find a Powerpro 15:3 is from PN.com
btw.. how much you paid for your setup? -
.
Fortunately, my MSI MS-1651 (barebone model of 15:3, and what the 15:3 is built on) is WXGA, and has a week less delay the WSXGA. -
Just got my 15:3 up and running today.

Right after ordering my laptop, my son decided to start college so I ordered an 11:15 for him. It has already arrived and is very nice. Because the PNB pictures don't begin to do it justice (the machine is black, not grey as shown in the pictures at PNB, and is a much better-looking machine than we expected), I thought seeing a "real" picture of the 15:3 would be interesting. -
I guess I can't comment as to whether or not the 15:3 will or will not live up to your aesthetic expectations. Seems fine to me. The outside is black and the inside is silver.
The Compal machines are very nice and, in my opinion, have a better overall feel than the MSI. On the other hand, my Compal used to become super hot while gaming and sometimes the gpu would slow down dramatically (my only serious complaint about the IFL90). I have yet to take the MSI for a serious test run to compare it to the Compal that was stolen. -
Sorry about your stolen property. Thanks anyway.
Was just curious about the look of the machine because my son and I were so surprised at how much better the 11:15 looked "in the flesh" than in the photos online. -
I dunno, I like the sliver inside, black outside but I'm not too fussy.

Hi folks,
@ bmwrob & v1k1ng1001 ... can you guys use HWMonitor 1.10 (HWM) http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php and post back your IDLE and Gaming (or GPU Intensive) Temps back here.
What I mean IDLE Temps is when you have your laptop on and running absolutely NO PROGRAMS ... only the HWM (which is a non-intrusive .exe file and runs in the background).
I am curious about the 9600M GT Temps since I read an article while back "claiming" that G92 and G94 NVIDIA Chips might have some Heating problems!!!
Thanks,
G! -

for whoever owns the Power Pro 15:3, would it be too much to ask for your overall impressions?
mainly I want to know about:
1. The quality of the matte screen
2. Performance of the 9600m ddr3
3. Build quality of the notebook itself
some pictures would be awesome too...thanks! -
2. Performance of the 9600m ddr3
3DMark06 - 5124 @ stock I believe
The build quality of the notebook itself should be excellent, and the matte screen amongst the best.. at least according to the retailers, who of course want to promote their products!
The rest is subjective. Unfortunately, the only person on NBR that owns it is Viking, who is a bit on the busy side and can't give you all the information. I don't think anyone on NBR has a matte at the moment except for retailers.
These are so far the best pictures of the notebook with WSXGA+ I have seen..
Since I seen you around the Sager forums for NP8660, I think it's going to look exceptionally similar to it (black brushed aluminum, silver trim, etc.). -

I hadn't even noticed that the 15:3 was built on the 1651 -
