I have a few external drive caddy's and every time I plug them into my GT72S they will read all of the files on them fine, but then if I try to copy any files the transfer hangs, the drive light flashes, and I see resets from event UASPstor on that device.

This device works okay hooked up to my X99 desktop. I've installed the latest chipset drivers. I'm going to attempt to remove and re-add the IRST drivers. I've disabled power management on my USB ports. Any other suggestions?

Try to plug it in into a USB port with power.

You could do without it altogether; run things off of the Windows native SATA driver.

Does it happen on all USB ports?

Yes it happens on all ports and this is a notebook hard drive and caddy. So no option to power it other than USB.

Is the UASPstor the only drive that is having issues? how about other external drives or thumb drives?

USB thumb drives are fine and my Seagate 1tb external drive (not UASP) is fine as well. It appears only UASP compatible devices so far.

I haven't responded for a while on this, but I don't have any UASP drives at the moment. Will get another one shortly and continue to troubleshoot. Thanks again for your responses so far.
