I own a barebones laptop based on the MSI GT70 (Check my Signature for the specs)
What I am trying to do is to replace my Killer Wireless-N 1103 (due to major connection drops) with Intel 6300.
So far I uninstalled all killer software and drivers and then proceeded on installing the wireless card.
I notice that the antenna cables are colored (grey, black and white) and the Killer card has triangle labels showing where to plug the colored antennas to the correct part.
Here is a pic of how it shows.

I looked at the Intel 6300 and instead of colors it shows numbers 1,2, and 3. I'm not sure if it matters if I connect the cables on the right part or not but nevertheless I'll continue on.
So far after placing the Intel card well and screwing it back in and finally attaching the 3 antenna cables I proceeded in installing the drivers that I got from Intel website and used a file name: wireless_16.1.5_s64
after installing that i notice the driver didn't get installed. I went to check on device manager and the Network Controller remains in the "Other Devices" section saying that it needs a driver along with Ethernet Controller. I used the wireless hot-key button to check if I accidentally turned it off, but nothing...it remains off. I reseated the adapter and tried again, unfortunately the problem remains.
Is there something I am doing wrong here? does it have to do with the antenna cables input?

Black antenna wire is the primary and should go on #1
Gray antenna wire is aux and should go on #2
If the 3rd antenna wire added into your notebook is White(?) attach it to #3
I've used both the 6300 and 1103 in my GT780DX and found the 1103 to have better connections to my R6300 router and less lag.
The router should be set to WPA2-AES or you will get bad performance.
The wireless card Advanced Settings should be on a/b/g/n/
I'm now using the Intel AC-7260 with mixed results until a 3x3 AC card is available.IMO it's better than both the 6300 and 1103.
Back to your 6300 issue. What is showing in device manager?
If the 6300 is not there but Bluetooth is try updating it buy pointing to the folder with the Intel driver.
I've had that issue with the 6300 and updating the BT with the Intel wireless driver worked even though it sounds strange.
Use the zipped version of the 16.1.5 Intel wireless driver and not the exe version. -
as I said in Device Manager
it shows two Controllers: Ethernet and Wireless Controllers (appears when the card is inserted into the laptop) which are under "Other devices". They both require a driver (even though i tried installing them). I also want to note that I don't have bluetooth included, only with killer 1103.
was I suppose to do something inside the zip?
*sigh* I'm feeling hopeless, ever since the Bigfoot wireless-N gave me frequent connection drops, I've been desperately trying to look for solutions. whether it is driver changing or switching cards or changing settings of my router, I just can't get no good results. Man, I have serious bad luck. -
I wonder...how can I tell if this wireless card is whitelisted? is it because of this?

IFAIK MSI doesn't Whitelist.
I've tested about 13 wireless cards in my GT780DX.
If you right click on the Wireless in Other Devices >Update Driver Software>Browse>Let Me Pick>
Go to folder where your have driver>proceed to correct inf for installation.
The WiFi light on the touchbar should be lit and the wireless icon in the taskbar should say networks available when the mouse cursor is on it. -
EDIT:
Okay I found them but I am not sure which one...there are actually too many of them...which one is it?
mine a 64-bit so It's gotta be one of them right? -

I think its NETwbw02.inf but I may be on different version than you.
Isn't the installation guiding you to the right one? -
now I'm extremely confused. Did I get the right driver? the file name is wireless_16.1.5_s64...THAT is the latest from Intel no?
EDIT:
I downloaded the driver, somewhere else that isn't from Intel's website since its a pain to get it for some odd reason.
I checked the file with the name netw5s64.inf
version is 13.1.1
what is yours? -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
I don't need Bluetooth either.
How's your router?
Have you cleared cache recently?
You also might want to think about doing a clean Windows installation while the 6300 is installed.
When installing Windows 8.1 with the WiFi enabled an Intel driver is installed automatically but not on Windows 7.
I'm thinking of getting a new Netgear R7000.
Really hoping there's a 3x3 802.11ac card from Killer or Intel soon. -
The only "real" fix for wireless dropping issues is to get a different router......
Sometimes people are able to fix the issue with a different card, but most of the time not.
The problem is with the newer generation wireless cards and certain crappy routers that aren't designed well for the newer gen wireless tech.
It's not really the cards fault.

Now...I won't lie I have little experience with networking, especially routers. So how do I clear the cache? -
