You would see little to no gain over your current setup.

This setup is very nice, yours too. Really depends on how much you can sell your setup and then check the costs you have to add.
If it is over $250-300, not worthy in my opinion.

I don't have a current setup any longer, since Malibal had a pricing error on my configuration, and wanted me to pay the difference. So I'm back to square one on trying to get something unfortunately.

??? what happened ? How much did you buy your Malibal p170hm ?

Anyway, I can just advise you to go for the MSI then, you won't be disappointed by its performances ;)

Haha... Nah, it didn't have a warranty on it he didn't think, and we forgot about customs charge unfortunately.

pau1ow, I bought my Satori for $1464 shipped, but they said it should've been nearly $1800, so I walked away from it. Since I could get an MSI w/ 580M for the same price, I'd rather have that regardless. I was going w/ the Satori because it was a good deal, so I thought.

That's what I'm saying too. I'm about to hop on it shortly. Just ordered a 128GB Crucial M4 for $150 after $10 Visa Coupon from TigerDirect, so I should have a screamin demon of a laptop. Or at least I hope.

Good choice not going with the 6990. Not that it isn't a fast card, I've just heard they don't last long in the Sager's. I don't know about the MSI though. I was told by a retailer that they run so hot, he doesn't see them lasting longer than a year an a half. He told me they go over 100 Celsius when running Furmark. That is just to hot for my comfort. Maybe others have had a different experience?

Furmark cannot be used as a reference for normal operating temperatures for any GPU in any scenario. Furmark is known for burning GPUs harder than any game as well.

A GPU that hits above 100*C in furmark probably hits around 85*C in games, which is perfectly normal.

Getting nervous now... BAH... I hate big purchases. As a dad of two, I always think about them before I buy anything.. they've got more than they'll ever need, but still tough to splurge on "ol dad".

I know I'll be overly satisfied with it though. As soon as the Paypal funds are released from their "Hold" from the Malibal refund, I'll be paying for it.

That is still pretty high considering my 570m maxes out at 73 Celsius during Furmark. I don't think there is a 15 degree difference between Furmark and games like you say. Every card I've ever had usually runs about 5-8 degrees cooler when gaming versus Furmark. Just like may card now maxes at 67 Celsius when gaming. I had a GTX 280m that ran at 85 Celsius and it didn't even last me two years.

By the way, my 570m temps are also on overclocked settings.

My 6970m Undervolted in a Sager NP8150 had furmark temps of 66'c.

The cooling is amazing in that thing, I posted it somewhere in the 8150 lounge but it's been a while back since I had it so it is buried..

I had an nvidia GTX260m run at 97C degrees for a year, no issues.

my current HD5870m around 80C overclocked or less depending on the game

A friend of mine ran a 9800m GS at 112C due to dust, for nearly 3 years.

Various factors such as ambient temp affect greatly. Since its cold where I am currently working, my OC card reaches around 71C... and all GPUs behave differently, but generally are made to work even at 100C. they shutdown by terribly high temp to avoid damage, but not all gpus have the same resistance.

A friend's HD4850 was clogged with dirt running at 125C generally shutting down every now and then. The card is still alive an kicking to this day. His 8800gTX crapped on him in 8 months.

must've been a bad pasting job, mine runs at 88c on furmark for 15 mins.
    about 77c on Bf3.

of course who knows 1-2 years down the road how well built these cards are.

@op good price for the specs!

Hopefully, weather pending, it'll be here tomorrow.

In looking around, deal looks to be the best deal that I could get on this stout of a build.

Actually found it on eBay. Talking to the guy, I looked him up on facebook, place of employment: MSI :)

After it shipped, he let me know that he didn't have enough of the "used", so he sent a brand new Limited Edition Bundle ($2499). It's out for delivery right now, so I'll see it soon enough.

Probably within the next hour or so I'll have my new PC. Brand new GT783 for $1775 shipped. Can't beat that!

EDIT: Just got here.. BRAND NEW in box w/ all of the extras. I've not powered the PC on yet, much less taken it out of the box. Just ecstatic that it's indeed a brand new unit. Impressions coming after I get everything set up.

Been a rough day, had a loss in the family... but I left it to charge. Back home, wife isn't taking it too well. Hopefully tomorrow. Everything is freaking brand new. Amazing. Came with a Dirt code, and a Battlefield 3 code too.

The headphones are pretty slick, haven't opened them, may sell them. Mouse, everything. I'll probably keep the backpack.

Amazing deal. I don't want to take the plastic coating off the thing, haha, just want to keep it new and admire my deal.

Can't thank the guy enough, amazing deal, amazing stand up guy for honoring the sell even though he didn't have another used one.

I'll post some pics and thoughts as soon as I get some time w/ it.

Hahaha. I can't give his name out, but I will leave the ebay user ID. They're legit. Downloading Skyrim on Steam as we speak. VERY nice PC.

If anyone is interested in his User ID, PM me and I'll shoot it your way.

Pictures and review coming in the next few days.
