The local micro center has an open box GT63-052 Titan for $1800. They are selling it new right now for $2000. I'm thinking about picking this up. What do you guys think about it?

Are there better deals for a GTX 1080 laptop?

They also have an open box Omen X 17 with a gtx 1080 for the same price.

Which one of these two laptops has better thermals?

    GT63 is 8750H, the Omen has a 7th gen i7 right?

It's more a question if you want a 17 ou 15" gaming machine.

yeah the omen has the 7820HK, which is the unlocked 7th gen i7 but yeah quad vs hex core makes a big difference.

It's still a quite good CPU. Single-core performance should be on par with the 8750H but when all cores are used the 8750H makes much more sense.

I've actually had both those machines. Really liked the Omen for it's build quality and keyboard. Noise under load was also good. Just make sure you are looking at one with the 144Hz screen as the 120Hz is really not good enough. It's a slow and blurry IPS panel.
Ended up selling it because it was just too big. I was carrying it everyday and started becoming a chore. So I started looking for something lighter and packing similar performance.

I got the GT63 and it's a neat little machine. Chassis and build quality are showing their age by now but it's still a well put-together laptop. Performance is also nothing to frown upon on a 15" machine like this. Overall I'm quite happy with it, don't regret the trade at all.

For the same price I would go with the GT63. Unless you're really looking for a bigger screen. Then the Omen might give you a better user experience although the CPU will be slower.
