    hello
    i just bought a medion x7817 which is a msi 1762 barebone with 3610qm and 670m 1,5gb
however the medion never update their barebones' bios even there are many bugs in them, i used to have a medion x7811 which is a msi 1721(gx740) barebone and i flashed the latest gx740 bios without any visible issus, so i just wonder is that possible to flash a gt70 bios on this x7817 too?
any1 have a x7817 did the same thing before?
    thx in advance

Yeah that will work fine - I also got a MSI1762 barebone and flashed it with the latest GT70 BIOS to accomodate the 680M :)

I assume we'll get the same result with the 16F3/GT60 BIOS, right?

Oddly only the Sandy Bridge ones exhibited issues. I.E.: USB ports not working, ACPI issues, etc. I wasn't the only one with those issues.

The 1st and 3rd gen work fine with each other.

I was considering flashing a GT60 BIOS onto a 16F3, but I didn't try it after noticing the difference in file size (3072KB vs 8192KB).

well, found issus with gt70 bios .30m on my medion7817 (1762barebone)
after .30m bios flashed, the volume of my pc become very low, lower than stock medion bios, have no idea about it
no other issus but still i decide to stay at stock bios, with better sound

How did you flash the bios to your Erazer?

I tried to flash an GT60 Bios to my Medion Erazer X6821 but
when i start it with the flash.bat i get an error message.

    Should i start it with "afudos.exe mybios.rom /parameter..."

    Which parameter have you set?
Nvidia etc or only the bios??

Have you got an error: wrong ID before you flashed?

    Thanks for your answer

Thanks, the flash itself is not the problem, but i am afraid to kill my new laptop with the wrong bios.
    Because of this i asked.

Got you the ID error too before you flashed?

I can't remember but you have nothing to worry about - it will work fine - MSI 1762 uses exactly the same motherboard as the MSI GT70. I would have been more worried to flash the MSI 16F3 with the GT60 BIOS as the former doesn't have all the ligthning feature and S-bar.

I am owner of a MSI 16F3(actually a medion erazer X6821, but i think it is a MS16F3) , thats just the reason i would have been worried about, and i didn't flash it yet!!!
But you are the only person i know which has flashed a MSI GT... Bios to a Medion Erazer book.

    Back to the problem: ;-)
But the buttons i have are only three: Power, internal blue light(nobody needs that) and a windows button without any function.

Which bios should i use instead of the GT60??
My book is the Medion X6821

The X6821 really is the 16F3. And I'd like to know about the supposed GT60 bios compatibility as well, since I'm also looking to buy one.

But can you please explain what that "internal blue light" is exactly?

So can anyone confirm the Gt70 bios working flawlessly with a 1762 barebone?

alright, well i too, have the 680m and its been buggy, and i wanna flash the bios.. and i need to flash the EC from the gt 70 as well? im just afraid of making a paper weight. Can you link where to do this and how to backup the current bios first? (btw, what vbios are you using for the 680m)
(would this EC work http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162629.msg1192312#msg1192312 .... i have the non raid system)

MSI does post the following warning, but you guys are welcome to experiment as you like:

Alert: The BIOS of MSI-branded Notebook PC is NOT compatible with the Whitebook Barebone. MSI is not responsible for any damages resulted from improper use or lack of technical expertise.

    MSI Whitebook, MS-17626

I know there are proprietary differences between branded, and non-branded units..... have fun, but take care.

Uninstall both graphics drivers, then install Intel first, then Nvidia driver.

I have been doing that. ok flashed to the latest bios u gave me, and now, just installing the intel driver doesnt work, looks like this bios is less compatible than the gt 70's... arg... why... why did the bios work for pau1ow but not mine?

Since your notebook is a custom model built by Cyberpower, it's quite possible that it's not considered an MSI Whitebook..... or even supported by MSI. You really need that original bios rom file, and you may have to get with Cyberpower to recover it.

but the barebone used was the 1762. i had messaged them earlier with a request for a bios update and they requested i did not update the bios at all. I doubt they would give me the original bios file... but ill try

I'm just saying...... since Cyberpower is an OEM partner of MSI, Cyberpower is probably expected to provide all customer support for their custom notebooks. You will probably have to get with Cyberpower for the bios file. Have you checked Cyberpower's customer forums? Which Cyberpower model did you buy? Hopefully Cyberpower will not consider this a breech of the their warranty.

Sorry you are going through this, but I am really surprised you flashed that bios after your backup failed...... and especially after I posted MSI's warning. Try posting another thread requesting an MS-1762 barebones bios. Perhaps another owner here will be kind enough to provide you a copy of theirs. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can get you a copy. Hopefully the MS-1762 barebones bios is the same as your Cyberpower unit.

    Best of luck!

    :)

alright, so i beleive i found my original bios, thanks to Svet. but the drivers still wont install, but i ran it once witout the driver enforcement and the intel worked, so i tried the bcdedit trick and its not working, looks like i will have to reinstall windows... great... so after i reinstall windows, i will have to reflash the bios and test them out... just great, i need to reinstall like 600 gigabytes of software... awesome
yup, for the drivers to work i have to boot in f8 and choose disable driver enforcement... does that mean i have to reinstall? can i get around this without SP1?

    @ylpkm

I recommend you do a fresh windows install - make sure you got the non-raid GT70-0NE BIOS and everything should work correctly.
:( I have also created a thread in the MSI section a while ago, with the unlocked GT-70 0ne BIOS I'm using with my 1762 - at least this one I'm 100% sure it does work !

Thanks! This is it right? ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/684088-msi-gt70-unlocked-bios-latest-10m-non-raid.html),
can you tell me why u havent flashed the EC? isnt that also important?
as well as that question: in windows experience index, what ratings do you get with this unlocked bios. The original bios gives me a graphics rating of 5.9 (showing the lack of support for the 680m i presume.)

alright i flashed it, (btw also found an update for my original EC and flashed the update, now im contemplating updating to the gt 70 one EC because im using its bios.) now my WEI scores are higher 7.7 for the graphics card... but im slighly worried, throttle stop 5.00 is saying the processor is at 60 Celcius at idle the graphics havent gotten hotter than 60 Celcius yet...
seems like the 680m throttles in some games.. or maybe its just an internet fart.

just wondering if anyone has a 3610qm i7 in their laptop? what temps do you run idle, or with just firefox open.. i get anywhere from 40 to 58 according to throttlestop beta 5.. it also says my clocks are always above 2500 mhz should it be that high constantly?
