Hi,
I have a MSI GT680 notebook with one hard drive 500GB (it also has an additional free connector/slot for SATA).
I was wondering if I can put a second 500GB hard drive into it. I know that MSI GT680R comes with 2 hard drives but the question is if I can upgarde the regular MSI GT680 with such hard drive.
If yes then do I have to upgrade the bios to have the raid 0 option?
In the download section on MSI website there is bios separetly for MSI GT680 and MSI GT680R. Does this means that I can not upgrade my MSI GT680 bios to MSI GT680R bios?
Regards!

if it has the connector then you should be able to
just beware of 1TB drives as they are thicker
The GT680R will use the same chassis. -
If it has slot then you can add. also you can put 3-rd one hdd instead of optical drive (check on eBay "2nd HDD caddy sata").
Can't say about bios. open bios and check if you have that option but I never used RAID so i don't even know if it needs to be changed anything in bios for that -
Thanks for quick answer.
Now the question is how to have a RAID 0 system with 2 hard drives.
I saw some bios screenshoots of GT680R with that option but in regular GT680 there isn't any.
Wondering if GT680 has such a controller for RAID. If the 2 motherboards are identical for R and non R version then it should have.
How can I check such thing or maybe is it safe to upgrade the bios to GT680R version to have all benefits? -
Just us the GT 680R'S BIOS and flash it.
It's work!! My Taiwanese friend just did for another version. -
Cheers!
Is it possible to upgrade MSI GT680 to have 2 hard drives?
