Is it possible to swap screen on GE76 ?

I am doing some research to swap my poor ge76 screen (auo978f) to 300hz screen (same ge76 but different ge76 code). I wonder since the laptop itself has same chassis, could it possible to recognize the new screen (same 40 pins, ep 1.3 lane) ? Thanks so much

If it were me I would aim for 1.07B colors for the best viewing. If you're looking for high RR then you're limited to 1 other 300mhz screen which would be the middle one in the comparison

Your original screen is 60hz though so, any bump up would be better. There's trade offs when it comes to RR vs colors and brightness / contrast





IMO 300hz just makes things somewhat blurry. 120hz will be sufficient depending on what you're doing i.e. gaming. Though I just spotted an issue with the high color model being that the pin pitch is 0.5mm and your OE / 300hz option here are 0.4mm. There's a way around the pin pitch issue with an adapter you insert into the cable path that's relatively cheap.


There are a lot of games that are played when souring a new panel though to keep in mind. Dealers like to ship "compatible" models instead of the actual model you're looking for. I went through a couple of them when sourcing my replacement and it gets tiresome hunting down the proper panel. I ended up using kreplacement.com direct from CN to get the exact panel I was looking for. With FedEx express shipping it showed up within 4 days @ $150 total. The panel didn't cost much more than other sources that were domestic but, having been burned already it seemed easier to just go to the source rather than domestic. If you have the time to wait you can cut shipping costs.

I was able to see both options listed on AliExpress which should indicate they're able to be sourced at least. There doesn't seem to be much of them on other sites though.

You're welcome. If you take your time with it then it should be smooth. Make sure the cable is seated alll the way and don't apply too much pressure are the keys to success.
