Ok, I bought the GT60 with GTX675M 3 days ago. It is a powerful machine and I love it. But I have some issues with the fan noise. I used three different sound measure apps on my phone and they all told me that the noise was above 50 dB (at the air outlet) when the machine was idle, and it jumped to 73 dB when I used the Cooler Boost key. The use of CPU were below 1 % and temperatures were fine, so I the noise is the only thing I get mad at it. I went to the GT60 review from Notebookcheck and it says:
"While idle, the GT60 produced an audible but acceptable noise level of 36 dB." I don't know how they came up with the number but it made me assume that my GT60 has a problem. Can someone who has a GT60 do a sound measurement or tell me your experience? Thanks!

Sounds like the fan could be revving a little too high. Have you monitored your temps yet? And are you OC'ing anything? You can also check the fan speed using hardware monitoring software.
I wonder how accurate the app(s) you used is. -

Have you looked into the fan control tool?

My GT70 has one of the quietest fans I have never heard before! Even under loads.
Compared to my old Fujitsu N it is whisper quiet. -

I also have IC Diamond thermal applied to the CPU and GPU which may make a difference.

Doing that and using some high quality 0.5mm pads can also help
Is it me or GT60's fan is annoying
